I come from a genuine position of wanting to understand how the animal is feeling and what is motivating their behavior. I have experience with cats and dogs from growing up with them and from pet sitting as a kid. I also worked at an animal sanctuary so I have experience with the animals such as pigs, chickens, ducks, and goats. I treat all animals with compassion and care. They are like children in that they each have unique personalities, and deserve autonomy, while at the same time needing to be cared for and protected. I am always learning about how to better communicate with animals and understand their needs. From watching videos to taking classes and reading books, I seek out new perspectives on animal behavior because it is an ever-changing field of study A couple years ago, when my dog started peeing in the house, punishment was not on my mind, I could see from her body language that she felt bad and wasn't doing it on purpose so I had her checked out and learned it was a medical problem not a behavioral one.
