Pet care experience
Animal Science student summer job!
My name is Arielle, and I am an Animal Science undergraduate at Virginia Tech. I have worked in the veterinary field as a veterinary assistant for multiple years, and I have experience taking care of a wide range of animals: senior dogs and cats, young puppies/kittens, pets with complex illnesses needing medication, and even pets with special circumstances like wheelchairs. I love animals of all kinds, and I don’t get to spend enough time with them during the semester when I’m locked up in a lecture hall!

Arielle also cares for cats. Learn about their cat-specific care experience.

Working at an animal hospital has helped me to learn how to take care of animals to each individual owner’s specifications and needs. The instructions you provide me with are exactly what I will follow!
Ratings and reviews
Arielle was to pet and house sit for one week. I had her over to the house to meet the dogs and to discuss what I needed her to do. My dogs are 13 pounds each and we live in a small cabin in the country so no walking necessary; just feed, let out the door and love. It needs to be noted too that I was perfectly ok with Arielle working FOUR of those days from 8:00 until 2:00 as well as leaving much earlier than my return flight on her last day so as to connect with her own family. Truly an ideal situation for two little dogs that are no trouble and just want to be fed and cuddled. The week prior to my trip, my husband had passed away. This was not a vacation as I needed to travel cross country to be in the comfort of family. Arielle knew this from the beginning and was more than willing to help. TWO days in, Arielle found it necessary to text me ( 3000 miles away) to tell me that one of the dogs had had some diarrhea in the bathroom ( probably not much for a 13 pounder!) and cleaning that up made her late for work. In the same text, she suggested that we needed to renegotiate her pay. Mind you, she was never asked to be with the dogs 24/7 as I knew she was working; 3000 miles away and TWO days in! My dogs have lost their ( dad) favorite person and they knew something was off. I asked her to feed the dogs chicken and rice( a box of rice was already on the stove! The chicken was ( also) on the stove and already fully cooked). Yet, this was too “ labor intensive”! I cried for my husband, I cried for my pets and chose to return home two days earlier than planned. In the real world, not everything goes perfectly. (By the way, the diarrhea immediately stopped). Arielle needs to learn honest empathy and flexibility. I cannot recommend her for a long term pet sitter.

Arielle was great! Great with our dogs and flexible with our schedule. We will definitely be requesting her again!

Arielle did a wonderful job with the drop-in visits to take care of our kitty, a plethora of patio plants, and our koi pond. Timely visits, sent photos, and followed instructions to a T. Thank you so much, Arielle!

Arielle is an extremely attentive and caring individual. Her love and care for animals is only rivaled by her attention to detail and level of consistent care. In addition to working in an animal hospital she has almost single handedly raised an antisocial shelter cat to become social and curious. She is excellent at keeping to a schedule but she is also very capable of improvising and making her own decisions if need be.
Arielle is an amazing choice for being your pet's caregiver! She is so kind, gentle, considerate, and loving. Arielle always helps me with my pets and I couldn't be more grateful for her help, I can always rely on her. ❤️
