I began working with animals at age 13 volunteering at my local rescue cleaning cages and walking dogs, and at 16 I began working there part time during high school. I then worked as a dog bather/groomer for 2 years when I was in college for ecotourism and adventure travel (2011) After college I worked as a groomer and bather in my hometown for a year and a half before I moved to Columbus (2015). Both groomers also took care of cats as well so I am well versed in nail trims, baths and basic grooming. In 2020 I worked for the BARK company as a dog nutrition specialist in their BARKeats program. I have a healthy knowledge of dog nutrition, and exercise requirements depending on size, age and breed. I also worked for their BRIGHT program for dog teeth health, but I was not specialized but do have a general knowledge and capability to provide tooth brushing if necessary 😁 I've also rescued two dogs, my first being a senior malamute who required special care, and my second Banksy, I rescued at a year old. We also have three rescue cats, one of whom we birthed and fostered his litter and got the mother fixed, chipped vaccinated and rehomed. I have been house sitting, walking and training with multiple dogs over the past year outside of Rover where my responsibilities included special diets, medication management (pills, liquids and needles for insulin) as well as taking blood sugar. Walks with all kinds including reactives, rock eaters, and dogs that haven't learned not to pull yet. I've done Bathing and blowouts after muddy adventures, nail trims, paw cleanups as extra add ons regularly. I have also done other fun stuff like train to swim, canoe, paddle board and scent training to hunt for morel mushrooms!
