I care for pets in their home by making sure they feel comfortable with me first. Ideally, I'll get to meet them with the owner present to make sure they know that I'm a safe person. If going on walks after that, I make sure that dogs feel safe and comfortable by giving them a moment to sniff and adjust before getting to any walks, medications, or other needs.

A typical day
I will go on long walks around Charlottesville or play in the owner's backyard! If the dog doesn't like to be around big crowds or other dogs, I am happy to find hikes/trails near their home.

Pet care experience
I have fostered and trained dogs though animal rescue centers for nearly 15 years, and through fostering I ended up adopting my own two dogs! I'd love to care for more pets with my summers off from teaching. I have experience with dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments, including puppies, senior dogs, and dogs who need extra patience or socialization. I'm comfortable giving medications and eye drops, taking dogs on walks, playing fetch, and making sure they get plenty of exercise, attention, and affection. I'm confident handling dogs who are still potty training and those who need more structure or a little extra care and love.

Arianna was very sweet with our 15 year old dog Niko. We left him there for a little over 2 nights. She was prompt at responding to a very last minute request. She was engaging with him right away and I received a very warm presence from her during our first conversation. She was flexible with adapting to some of his "senior" needs while he stayed with her such as putting on anti-slip doggie shoes and adapting her bedroom somewhat to help improve his traction. She checked in with me regarding administering medications based on some unforeseen physical challenges during his stay. We would certainly use her again in the future.
Arianna is a kind and responsible woman, and we will use her again when needed. She clearly enjoys the work with the pets and her communication was excellent.
