Pet care experience

Youthful Dog Sitter: Tail-Wagging

I have professional experience working with both dogs and cats in various shelters as an animal caretaker. I see animals as family and deeply understand how important they are in our lives. With several years of experience, I have developed a strong understanding of animal behavior and nutrition, allowing me to provide personalized care for pets of all ages and needs. Whether it's caring for senior pets, understanding special dietary requirements, or ensuring a safe and enriching environment, I am committed to offering the best care possible. I also have a companion of my own, my dog Valkyrie, who has been with me since I started providing services on Rover. She plays an important role in creating a balanced and positive environment for the pets in my care. Valkyrie gets along very well with other dogs and is very respectful of their boundaries. She communicates appropriately with other pets and adapts well to different personalities. She is especially gentle and patient with senior dogs and dogs around her age. With puppies, she is tolerant and patient; however, as an adult dog, she may calmly correct them or ask for space when needed, which helps teach healthy social boundaries in a safe way.

She was fantastic with our dog Milo. He stayed a week with her and was very easy going for drop off and pick up. She was gentle with him let him sleep with her and her own dog. Milo also seemed to get along with her dog. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a dog sitter.

Schedule

Being a university student with morning classes, I've structured my daily and weekly routine to ensure dedicated time for pet care in the afternoons and evenings. Mornings are focused on academic responsibilities, attending classes, and completing assignments. In the afternoons, I prioritize feeding, walks, playtime, and any specific needs my pet may have. Weekly activities such as grooming and vet visits are scheduled, along with extended bonding time to foster a strong relationship. I recognize the importance of flexibility, allowing for adjustments when unexpected academic commitments arise, to maintain a harmonious balance between my studies and providing quality care for my pet.

Safety, trust & environment

In a client's home, I prioritize providing comprehensive and personalized care for their pets. This includes adhering to established feeding schedules, ensuring proper hydration, and administering any required medications. Regular walks and playtime are incorporated to keep pets physically active and mentally stimulated. I make an effort to maintain a clean and organized environment, addressing any specific pet-related tasks such as litter box cleaning or waste disposal. Communication with the pet owner is crucial, and I provide regular updates on their pet's activities, well-being, and any notable observations. I respect and follow any specific instructions or guidelines provided by the client to ensure consistency and familiarity for their pets. My goal is to create a positive and stress-free environment for the pets in their own home while providing the necessary care and attention they deserve.

Pets

A typical day

As a pet sitter, my typical day revolves around providing comprehensive care for the pets entrusted to me. Mornings begin with feeding, walks, and play sessions, ensuring both physical activity and mental stimulation. Midday involves mealtime and possibly another round of engaging activities, while afternoons incorporate quiet time for rest. Throughout the day, I focus on individualized attention, catering to each pet's needs and preferences, whether it's training sessions, interactive play, or simply offering comforting cuddles. Evening routines include another outdoor outing for dogs, followed by dinner and a bedtime routine to ensure a peaceful and secure night for the pets in my care. Continuous observation of their behavior and health, along with regular communication with owners, ensures a tailored and attentive pet-sitting experience.

Knowing important details about the pets before I take care of them is really necessary. I need to understand their daily routines, what they like to eat, if they have any health issues, and if they need any medicine. It's also helpful to know what games they enjoy and what makes them happy. If they're scared of anything or have things that make them uncomfortable, I want to know that too. Having contact numbers in case something goes wrong and knowing which vet to go to is important. If they're okay with other pets or people, that's good to know for everyone's safety. Overall, having all this information helps me take good care of the pets and makes sure they're happy and comfortable while their owners are away.
