Professional dog trainer & lover ❤️

I've had dogs for my entire life! I grew up with great danes. I volunteered training puppies in high school. I started fostering dogs as soon as I was able (and still do!) and very quickly adopted my first dog. Dogs have always been my passion. I was working a corporate job while spending my free time training sport and foster dogs, reading about dog behaviour, and learning as much about dogs as I could. I've recently decided to focus on dogs full time, and decided to jump on Rover to help supplement and get me started :) While I'm already quite confident in my skills, there's ALWAYS room for improvement! As such, I have invested quite a bit into continuing to grow as a dog trainer. Most recently I went to LA to take a dog training course from my favourite dog trainer. There is no such thing as a bad dog! I am willing and prepared to handle reactivity or any behaviourial issues, you won't have to worry about your pup when they're with me!

Ariana was amazing with Mika! She was super kind, caring, and kept me updated throughout the day, which gave me great peace of mind. Mika came home happy and clearly well cared for. I’d definitely recommend Ariana to anyone looking for a reliable and loving sitter, and I will definitely book with her again. Thanks again!

Ariana was very prompt with answering questions. She was also very flexible about changing the pick up time. Our boys (cats) were very nervous about going to a sitter for the first time, and she was accommodating about this, placing them in a room alone together. Her dog area looked very clean and the dogs seemed to be pretty happy there. We fully intend to use her services should we need them again.

As a fellow rover parent and sitter know I can confidently say I have known Ariana for several years as a close friend and she has always put animals above herself and made them her life. I have seen how she takes care of cats, a multitude of dogs, including my own which she helped train as well as foster and prepare for adoption many rescues. Rest assured your fur babies are in safe hands and will not only be safe, but their training and behaviour minded as well!

Ari is great! We were having a lot of trouble keeping a dog walker before we discovered Ari, because our Great Dane was a huge puller and reactive. He didn’t phase Ari at all though! She was knowledgeable and well equipped to handle his issues. Shortly after we started using her for walking, he started behaving so much better. She got him to stop pulling completely. She also sends great update photos!

Schedule

Dog training and care is what I do. When your pet is staying with or walking with me, they will be my focus! It is so so important for dogs to get individual time with people away from other dogs, so I make sure every dog gets plenty of one on one time with me every day.

Safety, trust & environment

I live in an apartment building in Oakville with a private dog run. The apartment has a room specifically for the dogs to sleep and decompress. But home definitely isn’t the focus, we will be spending a fair amount of time out of the house- I love going on hikes or finding some secluded grass areas/fields to work with the dogs in. If the dogs I have at the time are all healthy and physically able, we'll go for hikes as long as 20km! It's all about them- I love bringing a longline with me so your furry friend can explore and sniff and run around in nature.

A typical day

The typical day definitely changes based on the dogs in my care and their mental and physical needs! I keep the dogs enriched mentally and physically, by choosing activities based on their breed and temperament. A typical day when it's just me and my adopted/foster animals starts early. We'll go out for a quick potty break, followed by 15-20 minutes of sitting somewhere and watching, to help socialize my anxious dog and teach them to be calm out in public. After this we'll head home, where I'll do a quick 10 minute training session with each dog using some of their breakfast. Short and frequent training sessions are key! The dogs then finish their breakfast while I am getting ready for the day. They have some quiet time to digest their meals and then we will typically go for a big walk out in nature. This is their walk, and when the dogs get to run, sniff, and play. My dog and current foster are both young and high energy, and I love to hike, so this is typically a long trek! I bring long lines for any dog that isn't my own dog, so they get some freedom without any risk! We take breaks from our hike to practice our recall, to train 'leave it' with squirrels, and of course to play a little bit. I always bring a toy in my bag! Structured playtime is so important. After this the dogs are pretty tired, so they get some time to nap while I have lunch and work on the computer. Depending on the dog and their owner's preference, this downtime is spent in a crate, in a play pen, or beside me on the couch. A couple hours later, when I feel like a break, we'll do some structured play followed by another walk. Sometimes, if it's a shorter walk, we stop at the park and do a training session. At this point it's usually evening, so another quick training session and then dinner for everyone. I eat while they digest, and the rest of the evening is usually spent winding down and cuddling with the dogs. The dogs will also get an enrichment item like a frozen kong while we hang out and watch TV, and we'll work on things like settling in place. Soon after it's another potty break and off to bed!

I will happily take on dogs with behavioural issues, but I definitely need to know what they are. The more information, the merrier. If there's literally anything you think might be useful for me to know, even if you aren't sure, tell me just in case! Dogs with more serious behavioural concerns may be subject to a higher rate. To ensure I am most prepared to keep your pet healthy and happy, I'd love to get some details such as: -What does their daily schedule look like? -How much do they eat? How often? -Are there any behavioural concerns I should know about? -Are there any medical issues or accommodations I should be aware of? Medication dosage and schedule? -Are you having any training struggles?
