Safety, trust & environment

Whether caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home, safety, consistency, and respect are always my top priorities. I understand how important it is to trust someone with both your pets and your space, and I take that responsibility seriously. In a client’s home, I closely follow all provided instructions and maintain your pet’s normal routine to reduce stress. I perform a safety check at each visit, ensuring doors, gates, and windows are secure, and I use leashes or secure harnesses at all times. I do not allow off-leash activity under any circumstances. This policy is in place to prioritize safety and prevent accidents, escapes, or unexpected encounters. All walks and outdoor time are fully supervised and controlled. I pay close attention to body language, behavior, and stress signals to prevent overstimulation or unsafe situations. For senior, medical, or hospice pets, I prioritize gentle handling, comfort, and close observation. I keep the environment calm, clean, and organized, and I treat your home with care and respect at all times. I provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident and informed while you’re away. My goal is always to create a safe, trustworthy, and low-stress environment where pets feel secure and cared for.

Information Antoinette C. would like to know about your pet

Before care begins, I like to learn as much as possible about your pet to ensure their routine is maintained and their needs are met comfortably and safely. Helpful information includes: -Feeding schedule, portions, and any dietary restrictions -Medication details, special care instructions, or medical conditions -Typical behavior, temperament, and comfort level with new people -Daily routines, preferred walking routes, or litter box habits -Likes, dislikes, fears, or triggers (including noise sensitivity) -Any mobility, senior, or hospice-related needs -How your pet typically responds to being alone or changes in routine For cats, it’s especially helpful to know their comfort boundaries, hiding spots, and preferred type of interaction. For dogs, information about leash behavior, recall, and energy level helps ensure safe and enjoyable walks. I also appreciate knowing: -Emergency contact information and preferred veterinary clinic -Where supplies are kept in the home -Home-specific instructions (alarms, doors, parking, etc.) The more I know ahead of time, the better I can tailor care to your pet and keep them safe, comfortable, and stress-free while you’re away.

A typical day

A typical day with me is structured, calm, and centered around your pet’s normal routine. I start each visit by checking in on their overall behavior and comfort before beginning care. For cats, this includes feeding according to their schedule, refreshing water, scooping and monitoring the litter box, and observing appetite, energy level, and mood. I spend time providing enrichment or quiet companionship based on each cat’s personality — whether that’s interactive play, brushing, or simply sitting nearby for reassurance. I never force interaction and always let cats set the pace. For dogs, mornings and evenings include potty breaks or walks tailored to their energy level, feeding, and any medications needed. Throughout the day I provide companionship, play, and rest periods while maintaining consistency and a calm environment. For pets requiring medical, senior, or hospice care, I pay close attention to subtle changes and prioritize comfort, cleanliness, and emotional well-being. After each visit, I send updates and photos so you know your pet is safe, comfortable, and cared for. My goal every day is to maintain routine, reduce stress, and make your time away as easy as possible for both you and your pet.

Ana is great with Oliver and is great at following instructions. Oliver loses his mind everytime Ana arrives. He is absolutely in love with her.

Oliver fell in love with Ana immediately. She is very sweet and patient with our bossy corgi. He should trust at the end of the walk. Highly recommend!
