Pet care experience

Misunderstood Not Misbehaved

What sets me apart is that I approach pet care through behavior, trust, communication, and relationship building—not just basic sitting. I have experience with puppies, seniors, fearful and anxious dogs, behavior challenges, and dogs that need extra structure or confidence building. My methodology focuses on understanding why a behavior is happening before trying to change it. Rather than labeling a dog as “bad,” I look at their environment, emotional state, body language, routine, and individual needs. I use positive reinforcement, consistency, enrichment, structure, and clear communication to teach better choices while helping dogs feel safe and understood. I also believe successful training strengthens the relationship between the dog and their person. My goal is not just better behavior, but better communication, trust, and understanding that continues long after I leave.

Valentine took great care of him and his doggie cousin Jackson. He was great and communicative while watching them and sent us lots of pictures of them. I would book with Valentine again!

Extremely satisfied with Valentine’s services, care and passion shown toward little pet pal. He loves what he is doing. He is trustworthy, responsible and accommodating which causes a great reassurance since Duke has a bit of a separation anxiety.

Anthony is an amazing dog walker. I have two Maltese puppies they both love. He takes extra time each visit with a puppies make sure they have a Quality walk. Just careful and protective of my babies to make sure that they're walking safe.

Schedule

Pet care is already part of my normal routine, and I schedule clients around my college classes. Most of my classes are concentrated on Monday, with one Tuesday afternoon class and one Wednesday morning class, leaving me flexibility throughout the week for walks, drop-ins, trainings, and extended care. I make sure every pet I accept has enough dedicated time for exercise, enrichment, attention, and consistency rather than overbooking myself.

Safety, trust & environment

Safety and trust are the foundation of how I care for every animal. I take time to understand each pet’s body language, routines, triggers, boundaries, and individual needs instead of forcing interactions or expecting every animal to respond the same way. I use positive reinforcement, structure, consistency, and relationship building to help pets feel secure. In a client’s home, I respect their routines and environment while carefully monitoring behavior, comfort, appetite, energy, and overall well-being.

Pets

A typical day

A typical day is tailored to the individual pet. Depending on their age, energy level, and personality, we may go for walks, explore new smells, play games, practice basic training cues, work on confidence-building exercises, or use enrichment activities that provide mental stimulation. I balance activity with appropriate downtime because a well-cared-for dog needs both physical exercise and opportunities to relax and feel secure.

I want to know about your pet’s personality, normal routine, feeding schedule, medications, allergies, medical conditions, fears, triggers, favorite activities, and training cues. Please also tell me about any history of separation anxiety, resource guarding, reactivity, escaping, growling, or biting. I never judged a dog for their behavior. I say this because the more I know beforehand, the better I can understand your dog’s behavior, keep everyone safe, and provide care that truly works for them. It also allows me to create an individualized plan that benefits everyone involved—especially our perfect pups!
