I grew up on a chicken farm in small town Texas, and most of my childhood memories include puppies and kittens and chickens and generally being surrounded by animals. My childhood dog, Ivy, was an Australian Cattle mix, and the love of my life. In August of 2015, I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 26. I had no family history, and was otherwise an extremely healthy person. Cancer is a funny thing, and it has actually made me a much happier and healthier person. I have learned the hard way that life is short, and you should appreciate every day and every beautiful thing, but mostly dogs because they’re the most wonderful. Also cats. Also all animals. The number one thing my doctors and surgeons have told me to do is: WALK! It's the easiest way to get exercise, and it’s never too hard on your body, even after surgery! I have been walking dogs full time for almost 10 years now and it is my favorite thing in the entire world. I feel so lucky to get to do this and it brings me joy every single day.
