Pet care experience

Pets love me, because I let them be

I have been a pet guardian from the age of 8 onward. In addition to caring for my own cat, I am the go-to petsitter in my condo building, and for friends, and for a number of years I fostered cats for the SPCA (I can't do it now because I live in a loft so I can't provide a private room for the fosters). In 2021 I completed a certificate program to be a Vet Tech Assistant, which taught me more about dogs that I ever thought there was to learn. On walks, I give dogs the time they need to sniff, check the pee-mail, and generally just be who they are. As for cats...they will come to me when they're ready. That's what they do! Before Covid, I was catering delivery driver, which made me immune to working in all kinds of weather. You can't be afraid of a little rain (or snow) if you live in Vancouver, after all. And one last thing: I freelanced for years as a graphic designer, which taught me that human relationship-building is crucial to running a successful business. I approach my pet-sitting gigs with the same philosophy.

Safety, trust & environment

I can care for your pets in your home. I am not motivated by money as much as I am in a need to feel useful. When I cat-sit, I like to read so that I can provide a quiet environment. With dogs, I will take them for walks as often as they need.

Annette was awesome with her first petsit with my new rescue dog, and my frenchie (who she’s cared for numerous times before). She even went as far as sewing up a toy that was the first favourite of my new pup when I brought her home. So thoughtful ❤️

Annette has been so great. She sends me pictures of my Tigger every time so I can be away worry free. She's quick to respond and always considerate. Thank you for keeping my furry companion company!

As always Annette took great care of Zack. Zack loves Annette - you can tell the way he greets her -- almost wags his tail off!

Schedule

I'm semi-retired, so I have a lot of availability and I love to go for walks. I can pet-sit in your home, not mine, because I can't guarantee how my cat would react to your pet and it's best to play it safe.

Does your dog have reactivity to other dogs? Is there a tendency to tug at the leash? Does your dog have any medical issues I should be aware of? Can you provide a non-retractable leash?
