Friendly dog-lover with experience!
Note: I am currently only accepting new boarding requests for shorter (2-3 night) stays over the weekends until my husband’s work schedule eases up (more flexible with house sitting). I love animals and have done all kinds of pet sitting since I was a kid! Most recently I have been an active volunteer and board member for local service dog organizations (including Eyes Ears Nose and Paws in Chapel Hill), where I have done everything from advanced service dog training to whelping and caring for a litter of puppies in my home for their first weeks of life. I also teach canine care and safety courses to new volunteers and serve as a contact for advice and support for dealing with any sort of issues (health, behavior, etc) that volunteers have when caring for their service-dogs-in-training. As such I have quite a bit of experience caring for dogs. But most importantly, I love every dog I meet and would love the opportunity to get to know your pup! I live with my husband and golden retriever Zelda and have a flexible job that allows me to work from home or bring pups to work (my colleagues are absolutely obsessed with Zelda!). I love walking and playing with pups as breaks from working at my computer. I also love taking Zelda (and other pups who are up for it!) on hikes or other adventures on the weekends.

Annchen did a great job with our cats and dog! She was very communicative, sent updates and responded to extra requests we had, and went above and beyond to stop back in when our flight home was delayed. We felt really comfortable with her in our home and our pets look forward to seeing her again soon!
Annchen was perfect for our shy little guy. He seemed comfy and good hands the whole time. She sent updates and pics and Juno seemed happy as a clam when came back. Her dog Zelda is also as peaceful as could be. Thanks Annchen!
My pup very much enjoyed her stay with Annchen for doggy day care! They went on long walks and played fetch and my dog came home happy and the next day was excited for another adventure. Annchen looked after my yellow lab for a few days when our normal dog care was away on holiday. It worked out great! She was very easy to work with and accommodating of schedule changes and some special circumstances. She was excellent with my dog and I look forward to working with her in the future for boarding or doggy day care.
We highly recommend Annchen!! Our fur baby, “Biscuit” was well taken care of and received plenty of love and attention. While we were gone Annchen kept us informed and sent us pictures daily ? We will definitely be rebooking with Annchen in the future!

Safety, trust & environment
I live in a house in a neighborhood with plenty of sidewalks for your pup to explore on leashed walks! We do have a small fenced backyard, but I would probably not be a good fit for a dog that needs lots of time playing long games of fetch everyday. I have a very friendly golden retriever who would love a friend, and I’ll accept at most one guest dog at time.

A typical day
I enjoy walking, playing games, and engaging in training with dogs according to their needs. Depending on the dog, I usually do at least two longer walks each day to smell the smells around the neighborhood.
