Pet care experience

Kind care for your kitties 💕

Living with three cats has taught me a lot! Their routines and all the little quirks that make them each such a character. Over the years, I've spent provably too much time learning about cat enrichment with a focus on behavior training (like clicker training and pattern games). It’s so interesting exploring the different ways cats communicate what they need (sometimes very clearly, and sometimes not so clearly). One of my cats, Momo, showed up on our porch last year and, helping him feel safe with my two older cats gave me an even deeper appreciation for how unique every cat’s needs are. It has also made me familiar with baby-gates, medication protocols, the best calming cat playlists on Spotify, and all the toys! Because of this experience, I pay extra attention to more than just food, water, and litter boxes. I enjoy getting to know each cat's personality, favorite routines, play style, and comfort level. Whether your cat wants an enthusiastic play session, a buddy while they eat, or simply someone to hang with them from a respectful distance, I'll meet them where they are. Know that your care instructions (big or small) will be embraced and understood. My goal is to make sure your cat feels safe, comfortable, and cared for while you're away and give you all the photos/updates you need to feel like you can be away without any worry 😀

Safety, trust & environment

I care for every cat the same way I care for my own: with a lot of patience, respect, and attention to their individual personalities. One thing I do when meeting a new cat is let them set the pace. Some cats are social right away, but others need a little space. I've learned earning a cat's trust is super important. Over the past year, I've spent a lot of time working on behavior training and confidence-building with my newest cat (Momo). This process has helped me learn a lot about clicker training, all sorts of enrichment games, and generally just how to read a cats body language. I'll always follow your care instructions and the routines that work best for your cats. And if you're interested, I'm also happy to share some of the things I've learned along the way from my own experience as a cat parent.

Ann is a real life Snow White! Animals are drawn to her, and feel at home in her company. She loves animals deeply, especially cats, and cares for others pets as if they were her own. You can have confidence that Ann will give all the attention, care, and love that your cat deserves. She has a ton of experience with cats with varying personalities and deep knowledge of cat behavior. On top of being incredible with cats, she is a great communicator, trustworthy and reliable. Ann is an absolute gem! She has a special gift with animals, and I trust her completely with my cat daughter, Cleocatra. Honestly, I'd trust her with my own life, too! She consistently goes above and beyond to make sure every furry friend in her care is loved, safe, and treated like family. The fact that she also spends her free time rescuing animals speaks volumes about her character and dedication. Any pet would be lucky to have Ann looking after them! If you're looking for someone who genuinely loves animals and treats them like family, Ann is the one. I can't recommend her highly enough!

Ann and animals go hand in hand. I can’t even count the number of times she has somehow befriended possums, deer, squirrels, cats, dogs, and pretty much any animal that crosses her path. Cats especially have always had a soft spot in her heart. In Charlotte, some neighborhoods have a lot of outdoor cats roaming around, and Ann goes out of her way to make sure they are cared for. She buys them good quality food, keeps cold water out for them on hot summer days, and even has what I jokingly call an “outdoor cat apartment” for the winter, complete with a heated blanket. And that’s just the outdoor cats. When neighbors are away, she takes amazing care of their pets too. Some of the cats she watches don’t get along, so she makes sure to spend individual time with each one, gives medication when needed, and treats them all like they’re her own. I swear Ann was a cat in a previous life. If there’s someone who loves cats more than she does, I’d find that very hard to believe. If you want someone who will genuinely care for your pets like they’re family, Ann is absolutely the person for you.

Schedule

I work from home full-time and have a flexible schedule, which makes it easy for me to fit cat care into my day. Since I have three cats of my own, I’m already very used to planning my routine around feeding schedules, playtime, litter box maintenance, and all the little check-ins that help cats feel secure!

Before your trip, I'll take some time to learn about your cat and anything you'd like me to know before I start visits. Every cat has their own routines, preferences, and little quirks, and I find those details make all the difference. I'll ask about things like medications, feeding schedules, favorite toys, hiding spots, health concerns, and any household routines that help your cat feel comfortable. I also like to know about behaviors I should be aware of. Are they shy with new people? An expert at darting out the front door? Obsessed with a certain toy? Do they prefer to be admired from across the room rather than pet? These are all things that help me understand how to best care for them. And truly, no detail is too small. As a cat owner myself, I know that sometimes the most random little habits end up being the most important! The more I know about your cat's personality and routine, the easier it is for me to help them feel safe, comfortable, and understood while you're away!
