TLC for Your Precious Pets and Home

I am a semi-retired professional woman, responsible, mature, and kind. I moved to Pittsburgh a few years ago from Maine, where I had male springer spaniels for almost 30 years. I miss those wild boys! Later I provided pet sitting services through Dog Vacay, which became part of Rover. More recently I've provided house and pet sitting in Pgh and New England--cats and dogs. I love animals and miss them. As I live in an apartment, I no longer have any and would love to care for yours. I'm a listener and will work with you to understand your pet and the care you want. I've worked with big guys, little guys, old and young. I often sit older dogs and cats and am comfortable with administering medications, special diets, etc. Currently, I provide dog walking/drop-in services only within two miles or less of Edgewood. I can provide house-sitting services within three miles of Edgewood. I do not provide boarding services as I am in an apartment, although I can have animals with me for brief periods. Please note that I cannot provide services for pit bulls or pit bull mixes. While I have loved the many large dogs I’ve cared for, if you want me to walk them, I request that they be leash-trained. Re home care, I owned my own home in Central Maine for many years. I heated with wood, dealt with tons of snow, raked the roof to prevent ice dams, had a tree fall on the house, etc. You will find me responsible and resourceful, and I will take good care of your home and precious loved ones.

Safety, trust & environment

My focus is on the pet and their parent/s. I usually learn about their needs in detail at a meet or greet or other contact. I want to learn about their routine and needs and what is familiar because it can be stressful to have a stranger come in. I love to commune with animals and play with them. I walk a lot, and I seek advice from the owner re walking routes, etc. Safety: In addition to Rover's background check, I can give you documentation of an FBI federal criminal history background check that I passed not long ago, which was a requirement for volunteer work. I also have excellent local references that I can provide you.

Ann has been amazing with our dog, Laska. She’s reliable, communicative, and clearly cares deeply—Laska took to her right away. We always felt at ease knowing Laska was in great hands, and she treated our home with the utmost respect. We’re so grateful to have found her and would highly recommend her to anyone!

Ann is an incredible dog sitter! She is very reliable and so sweet with our big dog. She recently helped us during an emergency situation when our flight home was canceled. I feel so fortunate to have Ann as our dog sitter.

We absolutely love ANN! She feels like part of our family now as we have been using her a couple times a year for the last few years. Each time our experience has been that she strikes that perfect balance between friendly and professional but also keeps things entertaining with her sense of humor! Our dogs absolutely love her and sometimes cry after she leaves! She is very respectful of our house and our home and always reaches out to us if there are any questions regarding the care of our dogs or the house. She is truly caring and absolutely wonderful with dogs! The Snyders

Ann was wonderful. She came every day and took care of the essentials. More than that she made friends with a very shy cat who finally ventured out to meet her. She is my top choice for the next trip.

Ann did a wonderful job with my two cats! She took the time to come over to the house beforehand and was very attentive and responsive. Highly recommend!

Schedule

I work part-time as a writer and editor from my Edgewood home and I am usually here during the day. I can walk dogs in the morning and later in the day. I am hoping to work with a few clients/pets on a set schedule, but I am also flexible as needed.

Cats
0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
41 to 100 lbs
Dogs over 1 year old
Ann can host up to 2 drop-ins per day
Their general personality and health status, how he/she is with strangers and other dogs and cats, general temperament, any separation anxiety issues, dog friends, places he/she likes to go, what calms him/her, how much exercise required, do's and don'ts concerning feeding and treats (as applicable). I don't really have breed preferences. If he/she was a larger dog and also very energetic, I'd want to talk with you to ensure a good experience for both of us.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
