Safety, trust & environment

When caring for pets in their own home, I make sure their routines stay consistent so they feel secure — from feeding and walks to playtime and rest. I pay close attention to each animal’s signals, balancing structure with the affection, stimulation, or quiet companionship they need. Safety is always a priority. I follow your instructions carefully, ensure food and medications are given correctly, and keep doors, windows, and gates secure. I maintain a calm, clean environment so pets feel relaxed, and I treat every home with the same respect as my own. I’m a naturally tidy person who cleans as I go, so you’ll return to a home that feels just as you left it. Having hosted sitters myself, I fully understand the trust (and nerves!) that come with leaving your pets and home in someone else’s care. That’s why I believe strong communication is key. I’m happy to provide updates, photos, and even video calls as often as you’d like — so you can relax knowing your pets are safe, loved, and well cared for while you’re away.

Information anik k. would like to know about your pet

It’s always helpful for me to know as much as possible about your pet’s routine, personality, and needs so I can care for them just the way you do. Things I like to know include: • Feeding times, diet details, and any allergies or restrictions • Medications, health conditions, or mobility issues • Favorite activities, games, or comfort items • Daily routines, walking schedules, or litter habits • Social preferences — how they are with new people, other animals, or children • Any fears, triggers, or behaviors I should be mindful of (like thunder, fireworks, cars or separation anxiety) • House rules you’d like me to follow (furniture, treats, sleeping arrangements, etc.) The more I know ahead of time, the better I can keep your pets feeling safe, happy, and cared for while you’re away. Thank you for thinking this through. This can feel a little overwhelming if this is your first time - don't hesitate to reach out if so, I’m happy to walk through it with you so we can build a clear care list together.

A typical day

A typical day with me is all about keeping your pet’s routines familiar, while also making time for fun and attentive care. Mornings usually start with feeding, fresh water, morning cuddles, and a nice walk to shake off the cobwebs — maybe fetch, tug-of-war, or their favorite game if they’re in the mood. Throughout the day, if they enjoy company, I’ll happily work or read with them nearby. I like to break up the day with short interludes of fun and care tailored to each pet’s personality and routine: • For playful pets: games, hikes, or interactive toys to keep them engaged • For seniors: gentle walks, quiet companionship, and sometimes reading aloud or soothing massage • For shy or nervous pets: calm reassurance and a steady rhythm so they feel safe and secure Evenings often include another round of exercise or play, followed by downtime together — belly rubs and chats on the couch, a brushing session, or simply sitting side by side. I always stay tuned in to their signals, so every pet gets the right balance of activity, attention, and rest throughout the day. And of course, no day is complete without photo updates for you, so you know your pet is safe, happy, and loved.

35Yrs of Loving, Reliable Care

Pet care experience

I’ve been caring for pets for over 35 years, and I just love it! I have to travel for work which means I can’t have my own right now, so looking after others is a true joy. I naturally treat every animal as if they were my own — and making sure they feel secure, loved, and happy while their parents are away. With every sit, I bring both reliability and heart. Over the years I’ve cared for dogs, cats, parrots, chickens, and more — each with their own unique personalities and quirks. I’ve played with energetic puppies who needed training and adventure, given gentle support and patience to sweet seniors, reassured nervous or shy animals with steady routines & space, and comforted sick or elderly pets in their final days. One of the most important lesson I learnt came from my own senior dog, who had arthritis. Beyond medication, what mattered most were the little things. I could see from her body language that her favorite time of day was simply sitting together in the sun while I gently massaged her and talked to her. Those quiet moments made her feel safe and deeply loved — and they taught me how much presence and empathy matter in pet care. I work remotely with flexible hours, which means I can spend plenty of time with your pets — for walks, play, belly rubs, or simply quiet companionship so they don’t feel alone. While I’m new to Rover, I’ve been sitting through other platforms where I’ve built excellent reviews and references. Having hosted sitters myself, I also understand the trust (and nerves!) that come with leaving your pets and home in someone else’s care. That’s why I believe clear communication is key, and I’ll always keep you updated with photos, feedback, and check-ins so you can relax knowing your pets are safe, loved, and well cared for.

Anik stayed in our home for 5 weeks and treated Loki like a king. She and he formed a special bond and it was very comforting to receive photos from her about their adventures! She is wonderful with animals 😊

Anik is an attentive and patient caregiver for animals. She was the main caregiver for one dog and two cats at our artist community in Colombia for two months. When our doggie Guaricha had an open wound, she took the time to make a raincoat for her because it rains a lot here. The animals soon built a bonding and trusting relationship with her. It was beautiful to see someone going the extra miles to care for the animals. I totally recommend her as a trustworthy caregiver for your pets.

Anik was a great pet caretaker! My tuxedo cat, Quincy, absolutely fell in love with her. She took excellent care of all Quincy’s physical needs, plus gave him stroking time and played with him.

If you are looking for someone to love on your fur baby while you're away, Anik is your person! She was recommended to us to care for our little Mickey (yorkie pom poo) while we were traveling. Anik goes above and beyond, even sending photos and videos sometimes to keep us connected. She cares, is responsible, and is detailed oriented. Highly recommend!
