I’m very intentional about how I show up for animals. When I’m caring for a pet, my priority is helping them feel safe, understood, and as close to their normal routine as possible, especially when their person isn’t home. I pay attention to the little things: how a pet likes to be greeted, when they need movement versus calm, what helps them settle, and what makes them light up. Some animals want to play and explore, some want structure, and some just want quiet company nearby. I take the time to figure that out and adjust to them, not the other way around. genuinely enjoy being hands-on and engaged. Time together might look like walks and play, simple trick training, puzzle toys, scent games, or just sitting on the floor keeping them company. I’m not someone who just “checks in” and leaves — I like being present and making sure they feel good emotionally, not just fed and walked. I’m also very respectful of people’s homes and routines. I follow instructions closely, keep things tidy, and communicate clearly so you never feel out of the loop. You’ll get updates along the way, not because you asked, but because I know how reassuring it is to see your pet happy and relaxed. At the end of the day, I care deeply. I treat every animal like someone’s child because they are. My goal is for your pet to feel comfortable with me, and for you to feel that quiet sense of relief knowing you chose the right person.

I love learning as much as I can about your pet so I can meet them exactly where they are. It’s helpful to know their personality, energy level, and daily routine, whether they love long walks or runs, prefer slower sniff-filled strolls, or enjoy indoor play and mental stimulation. I also appreciate knowing about favorite games, toys, treats, feeding schedules, potty cues, and any quirks, fears, or sensitivities they may have. How they do with other dogs, new people, or different environments is always important, along with any medical needs or special instructions. The more I know ahead of time, the better I can speak your pet’s language and make our time together feel safe, familiar, and fun.
A typical day
A typical day totally depends on the pet because let’s be honest, this is their world, we’re just living in it. Some dogs wake up ready to run, and if they give me that look that says “I want to GO,” my response is usually, “Okay… how far?” 😄 I love running and staying active, so high-energy pups are right up my alley. Other pets prefer a slower pace, indoor play, mental stimulation, or just having someone nearby, and I love that too. Whether it’s walks, playtime, enrichment games, learning a new trick, or a solid cuddle break, I stay engaged and tuned in instead of just going through the motions. I don’t ignore pets or sit on my phone. I’m genuinely present. I pay attention to what they’re asking for, adjust as the day unfolds, and make sure there’s a good balance of movement, fun, rest, and routine. Every day looks a little different, because every pet is different, and that’s exactly how it should be.

My own dog, Maui, was the love of my life, and caring for him taught me how much trust and emotional awareness pets bring into our lives. Because of that, I treat every animal I care for with patience, respect, and genuine affection, like they’re my own. I’ve cared for dogs and cats for friends and family, including walks, feeding, bathing, overnight stays, and plenty of playtime and cuddles.
