Update - We have had an amazing 15 months with Rover, our clients and their dogs, it has just been an incredible experience. During that time however, we have reviewed our Meet and Greet policy to what we feel would be more beneficial to future house guests and their owners. So instead of just opening our doors, Neal will sit in the garden with Poppie, thus allowing the house guest to have a sniff around before meeting Poppie. We will then introduce Poppie to the house guest in the garden subject to weather conditions. Another service that we are offering is a 1:1 stay whereby if your dog is nervous, shy or suffers from separation anxiety, he/she can stay in our clean, quiet, airy motorhome which is parked on our driveway with either Neal or myself all day and overnight. We would stay with your dog whereby he/she will have our undivided attention. If we had to pop out for whatever reason, the other person would take over. We make it work!! So, please could I ask that you contact me should you wish to make an enquiry. I always respond very quickly, I have been known to respond to messages at 11 pm at night, I’ve also responded whilst shopping in Sainsbury’s!! I have owned, loved and looked after dogs of all sizes and breeds for most of my life, which amounts to many, many years of love and commitment towards them. Their care, happiness, health and wellbeing is of paramount importance to me, as I would treat each dog in my care as I would like my dog to be treated, with the love and respect that they deserve. We do have an 11 month old Golden Retriever who is extremely mild mannered, loves people, children and dogs, so I know that a different dog staying in our home would feel safe and content whilst with us. I would also be interacting with the dog during his/her stay so that he/she will feel that this is their holiday and not just 'somewhere' to stay whilst their owners are away. I can also offer day trips out to the beach/forest/parks in a fully equipped motorhome or an estate car, I will also quite happily bathe the owner's dog with either the owner's preferred choice of dog shampoo or a recommended dog shampoo, subject to the owners consent and approval. All meet and greets would include our dog so that owners can see for themselves how the two dogs would interact with each other, however, I would consider a dog staying with us without a meet and greet but only in an extreme emergency. Our aim is to ensure that not only are the owners having a well earned holiday but their dog will also be having their own holiday in a very safe and happy environment! Myself and my partner are at home every day, so our attention will be focussed on our dog as well as the client's dog. We would therefore have plenty of time to take photos/videos of the client's dog to be sent to them, as well as answer any questions that they may have about their dog's wellbeing whilst they are with us. I would care for the owner's dog as per their owner's guidelines, in order for me to offer a 'home from home' care package, I would really need to know what are the essential and desirable requirements I should be following which the owner/s should provide. I can offer a safe and secure environment which has been risk assessed for what I can provide. We now have a doggie paddling pool complete with a cantilever parasol to protect the dogs from the heat as well as have a lovely splash around!!! Myself and my partner are at home all day every day, so would be at the beck and call of the dogs! If one of us needed to go out the other will stay at home with the dogs. I can also offer short trial periods of a morning, afternoon for a very very small fee, just to reassure dogs and their owners that this will be like home from home. I have a very secure 6' fence surrounding the back garden, even Houdini wouldn't be able to escape!! We do not have any noisy animals nearby! We also have two local parks near us, both within a couple of minutes walking distance. As a house sitter, I would completely respect the dog owner's home as I do mine. I'm quite happy to sit quietly with the dog whilst he/she had a nap, take them for their usual walk and most importantly interact with them so that they don't feel lonely without their owners. I would also following their feeding schedule and rules on dog treats as instructed by their owners. Also, by booking with Rover, all owners, sitters, boarders and the dogs themselves are all protected by the Rover guarantee system, 24/7 support as well as £25,000 pet care. This is a massive reassurance when leaving your fur babies and well worth knowing. Also because we care so much about how fur babies will cope with the hot summer heat, we have purchased a large portable free standing air conditioning unit, in order to keep dogs cool whenever the outside temperature reaches 23+ centigrade.
