My work is project based and if I'm not away I'm working from home. My wife works from home on Thursday and Friday as well and we have a 2.5 year old German Shepherd / Chow (/probably a few other breeds) mix, called Millie, who loves people, other dogs, chasing squirrels and barking at skateboarders. Millie has a lot of energy and goes for sniff walks and walk walks at least three times a day. She's very good at communicating when she needs to go to the bathroom and gets plenty of outdoor time throughout the day in between naps.

On days when I'm available I have the time to give dogs the love and attention they need or want. To watch them when they play together, to play with them, walk them, give them plenty of time for sniffs, relaxing, sleeping and to make sure they feel comfortable, safe and content. And of course, to keep you updated with photos and messages about how their day or night is going.

Information Andrew & Megan S. would like to know about your pet

I would insist on meeting you and your dog before any bookings. You would need to visit me at home and meet my dog, outside first before we go inside. I would want both of our dogs to see us speaking and getting along before they are both in my apartment, just to make sure they know we’re friendly and that my dog is friendly. Tell me what they like and don’t like. How many times a day they need to be walked and how long / how far. If they are reactive to anything (skateboards, squirrels, other dogs, people, vehicle noises / city noises etc.). I would never let your dog off a lead outside without your permission and even then I would want to get to know them very well before I did. Tell me when they should eat and bring their favourite food and you’d be welcome to bring any favourite toys and their bed or crate as well if that would make them comfortable.

A typical day

I live close to a small park where there are often other dogs with owners. It is completely closed off on three sides so if your dog was responsive and / or treat motivated, it’s a safe and often quiet space for them to run and play. The walk is quiet, there are no main roads nearby and I typically do it three or more times a day with Millie, my own dog. It takes about 20 minutes but if your dog needs more of a walk I’m close to Lake Merritt as well.

Pet care experience

I grew up with three German Shepherds (Amber, Molly and Sassy) and one Labrador (Hector) in our family. I'm a confident and caring dog owner / dog sitter and have enough experience with my own dogs and looking after other peoples' dogs, to know if a dog would be a good fit in the local environments that we live, walk, play and sleep in.

Andrew and Megan (and of course Millie) are great! We appreciated how they met us and our pup before our daycare to make sure he got along with Millie (which he did super well). He came back happy and tired. Thanks!

Andy is wonderful - my dog Sidney is always so happy to see him when I drop her off for daycare (usually once a week). When I arrive to pick her up, she generally doesn't want to leave! She gets multiple walks per day and enjoys time with their dog Millie. They are accommodating of my crazy schedule and very flexible about drop-off and pick-up time. I very highly recommend these folks - they take great care of my baby!

Andrew & Megan did an absolutely amazing job caring for our family dogs. From the start, their communication was clear and thoughtful, and they paid excellent attention to every detail of our dogs’ routines and needs. It truly felt like they treated our pets as if they were their own. We came home to happy, well-cared-for dogs and complete peace of mind. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for responsible, loving pet caregivers!

I’m so fortunate to have found Andy and Megan for my dog Oreo. She gets so excited every time Andy or Megan come over for a walk or to pet sit. I know she is always in wonderful hands. Andy and Megan always go above and beyond for Oreo with extra walks and treats, they are the best!
