Pet care experience

Lifelong Animal Caretaker

I’ve been surrounded by animals my whole life—at one point, my family had 9 dogs, 20 birds, reptiles, and fish tanks. Since then, I’ve cared for friends’ and neighbors’ pets, plus my own senior dog who needed daily meds and special attention. That experience taught me patience, adaptability, and how to keep pets comfortable at every stage of life. I have experience giving medications (pills and eye drops) and following special routines. What sets me apart is the genuine love I bring to every pet I care for—I recently lost my own senior dog, and I’m excited to share that love with the pets of others.

Andrew is a great dog sitter. He is a true animal lover and very experienced dog handler. He took care of our dog for 3 nights and had to work pretty hard to get our boy rider comfortable in his new surrounding, which Andrew did extremely well. Andrew provided pics and updates during the stay and was very flexible on pick up an drop off.

Andrew did an AMAZING job when watching my dog for boarding! My dog is very nervous when meeting new people but she warmed up to him during her stay (so much that she didn't even notice me when I went to pick her up lol!) Andrew kept me updated daily and sent photos. He was very responsive and asked thoughtful questions, which made me feel really confident in him. I would recommend Andrew, and definitely will be rebooking! :)

We just picked up our dog after a week with Andrew and honestly we are so grateful we found him. He is everything you hope for in a pet sitter — attentive, thoughtful, responsible, and a genuinely great communicator. When our mischievous dog ate a sock in the early hours of the morning, Andrew didn’t just handle it quietly or panic — he flagged it right away, kept us in the loop, and actually asked our permission on next steps (i.e., before calling our vet). That meant so much to us. He treated our dog like his own and treated us like partners the whole time. He also asked us for an emergency contact ahead of time and even asked for feedback on how to help our dog adjust better. We have never had a sitter do that. It’s the kind of thing that makes you realize you’re dealing with someone who truly cares. We already have Andrew booked for our next trip and we are crossing our fingers our vacation schedules never overlap because we never want to board our dog with anyone else! If you’re lucky enough to get on his calendar, don’t let go. Thank you Andrew!!

Andrew was so great and supportive with my dog while we were out of the country for a week. My dog is nervous with new people and places and he was so accommodating in doing a trial night and even taking her on a couple walks before our trip to get her comfortable. Will definitely rebook!

Schedule

I work from home, so I have flexibility to fit pet care into my daily routine. My meeting schedule varies, but I can adjust to make sure pets get regular walks, potty breaks, meals, and attention. I’m generally most flexible on evenings and weekends, but I can often make daytime care work too with a little advance notice.

Where your pet will stay

Home characteristics

Lives in an apartment
Does not have a yard
Non-smoking household
Has no pets
No children present
Dogs not allowed on bed
Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 4-8 hours

Safety, trust & environment

When pets are in my home, they’ll be in a safe apartment environment with access to designated dog relief areas in my building. I’ve spent years walking my own dog around the neighborhood and know the best routes and safe spots. I don’t have a yard, but I make up for it with walks, playtime, and lots of attention. If I’m caring for pets in your home, I respect your space and follow your instructions closely to keep pets happy and on their normal routine. Whether in my home or yours, I treat pets like family and make sure they feel secure, loved, and cared for.

A typical day

A typical day with me starts with walks around the neighborhood or building’s dog relief area, followed by playtime, belly rubs, training refreshers, snacks, and cozy downtime. I adapt activities to each pet’s energy level, from games for high-energy pups to slow strolls or gentle cuddles for seniors. If a dog enjoys a change of scenery, I can also take them to nearby Humboldt Park for extra walks or playtime. Every day includes attention, love, and keeping routines consistent so pets feel happy, secure, and cared for while you’re away.

It’s helpful to know each pet’s personality, energy level, habits, and any medical needs, medications, or special diets. I also appreciate guidance on preferences for walks, play, or alone time. Knowing these details ensures I can provide care tailored to their needs, keep them safe, happy, and comfortable, and maintain their usual routine. I’m comfortable with high-energy puppies, senior pets, and pets with special needs. While daytime walks are local, I can take dogs to nearby Humboldt Park if that’s something they would enjoy. Please share any tips that help them feel at home and enjoy their time with me.
