Dogs, Cats & Plenty of Love
I've been an animal person for as long as I can remember. I grew up with a black Lab from puppyhood through his senior years, and over the years I've lived with and cared for Labs, Dobermans, Jack Russells and cats. I've also cared for five abandoned kittens who needed a lot of help. I hand-fed and nursed them back to health until they were strong enough, then found each of them a forever home. And I've lived with cats who decided they'd rather sleep in my room than with their actual owners. I considered that a pretty good endorsement! One of the dogs closest to my heart actually found me. I came across him as a stray on the road and took him in while trying to find his family. He wasn't chipped, so we nursed him back to health, got him chipped and eventually realized there was absolutely no way we were giving him up. He was already family. Because he'd been living on the street, I worried he might run off again. We spent a lot of time working together on walks, first teaching him to stay close on leash and then building the trust, listening and communication between us. He became an amazing little companion. We recently lost our little guy, and while I'm not quite ready for another pet of my own, I really miss having animals in my everyday life. I'd love to spend some of that time helping take care of yours. I've always been the person at the party who ends up on the floor playing with the dog or hanging out with the cat. Friends and family have told me for years that I seem to have a natural connection with animals, and the feeling is definitely mutual. Whether you have a big dog ready for a walk, a little one who wants some playtime, or a cat who just wants some company and attention, I'll treat your pet with the same patience, care and affection I'd want someone to give my own.

Safety, trust & environment
I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet and your home in someone else's care. I'll follow your instructions and your pet's normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding, walks, playtime, medications or any special preferences you share with me. I'll always make sure doors, gates, leashes and anything else related to your pet's safety are secure. I also believe in letting animals set the pace. If your pet wants lots of attention, I'm happy to give it. if they're shy and need a little time and space to get comfortable with me, that's perfectly fine too. Andrew is a great guy and so good with dogs! I have seen him with his own dog and with other people’s dogs and they love him. He is calm, gentle and very responsible. He would provide such good care for your pet and keep them safe while under his watch. His is a loving pet person and would do a great job for anyone who used him.
I met Andrew on our very first day of freshman year of college, so I've known him for a long time. Ever since He's always had a natural connection with animals. Outside the dorms there were animals in almost every house he lived in and even when they weren't technically his you would never know it by the way they followed him around and treated him like their person. Over the years I've trusted him with my own (now 15 year old) dog Olivia when I go out of town, even though in her senior years she needs extra care and attention. I never have to worry because I know she feels at home with him. I've seen him with both cats and dogs and all animals just naturally seem to love him. He's patient, dependable, easy going and someone I will always trust with my own animals. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to help care for their pets.
I was roommates with Andrew for about a year and completely fell in love with his dog, Locke. Watching the two of them together showed me how much love a dog can bring into your life. Andrew is a natural with animals and has been around them his whole life. Locke absolutely adored him, and it was obvious how much Andrew loved and cared for him in return. Their relationship actually inspired my sister to get a dog, and eventually me too. When I got my own, I even chose the same type of dog with a little white stripe on his chest, just like Locke, in his honor. Now Andrew is the person I trust to take care of my dog whenever I have to leave town. I know he is safe, loved, and being treated like one of Andrew's own. Having someone I trust that much with my dog gives me incredible peace of mind.

Schedule
My schedule is flexible, which gives me plenty of availability for drop-in visits and walks throughout the week, including mornings, afternoons and evenings. I live in Midtown and intentionally keep my service area close to home, so can spend my time with your pet rather than sitting in Atlanta traffic. I'm also happy to establish a regular weekly schedule if your pet does best with a familiar face and consistent routine.
