Availability

Reliable, Responsible, Mature. I'm currently retired so am able to spend all of my time caring for my animals (and yours). The most i'll ever leave the house for is 2-3 hours for an appointment, but this is rare. We start our days with breakfast at 7am, take a morning hike in the woods or trails or town. Then some relax time at home before lunch and a 1pm neighborhood walk. Then more home time and play or naps until our 4pm hike. Then dinner at 5. All meal times adjustable for your dog's needs.

Safety, trust & environment

I am able to be home 99% of the time so am always able to focus on the pets needs. I have been an animal lover my whole life and care deeply about the health and well being of animals in my care or under my stewardship. We live close to many hiking trails and nature preserves so the dogs always get plenty of sniff walks and exercise and socialization. Always on leash and always careful of meeting unknown dogs that may be receptive. I'm pretty good at sussing out a dog's behavior signals, if we should meet or not, after so many years.

Information Andrew L. would like to know about your pet

Special needs (medicines and activities), reactivity issues, level of interest and friendliness with other dogs and people, any triggers (motor vehicles, runners, bicycles etc.). Favorite toys, meal times, treat limits, sleeping preferences, attention needs, communication style (will the dog let me know it has to go out?)

A typical day

Primarily our exercise is focused around hikes in nature and going on "sniffari" around town. We often hike in nature and meet plenty of other dogs and friendly people. I bring water on all walks to keep the pets happy. Generally i don't offer treats on outdoor excursions (unless absolutely necessary). At the house, they can nap anywhere, play fetch, do some wrestlin' or chew a bone! We do a hike from 8:30-10:30am or so, then back to the house for naps and lunch. We do another shorter bathroom walk and leg stretch around 1pm. We do our final walk around 3:30-4pm for an hour before dinner. A final pee break before bed around 9pm.

Pet care experience

I have over 20 years of experience taking care of dogs. I have owned dogs for the past 16 years straight, the last 10 years with two dogs. I have a lot of experience with all types of dogs (from chihuahua to Great Dane) and connect easily with them. After all, I am a dog myself (per the Chinese Zodiac!) Currently I have two rescue dogs: A special needs (epilepsy) Healer/Aussie Shepherd mix named Ace and a senior Supermutt named Maisie. We lost our senior Boston Terrier in early 2023 due to Cushings and Cancer. So, I have experience taking care of dogs from puppy through hospice. Medications and special food needs are no problem. NOTE: As I have two dogs of my own.....if your dog is not well socialized and does not get along with all other dogs, big and small, or has a history of aggressive behavior, please do not put in a "Boarding" booking request. Socialized, friendly dogs only, please. No excessive whiners or barkers and dogs must weigh 35 lbs or less. Thank you!

Drew walked our 2 dogs (a Lab and a Cocker Spaniel mix) every day for a week and it worked out great. He was very thorough in his communications and punctual on each visit. Our dogs can be anxious, but Drew was great with them and they instantly became comfortable. I would highly recommend Drew.

Andrew was great with my lab who is very shy. Will definitely have him walk Buster again.

Andrew was great from the moment we met him, great energy and understands how to care for older dogs. He was on time for the appointments, and very quick to respond to communication requests. We will absolutely use him again and recommend him to our friends.

I had a fantastic experience with Andrew while he watched my dog for the week. Andrew truly cares about the dogs he looks after. He was very considerate of our dog’s needs and extremely responsible throughout her stay. She got in plenty of walking time, which she loves. It was great to hear how well she got along with his dogs and he sent picture everyday and kept us informed of her experience. It made me feel more at ease knowing she was in such a comfortable and friendly environment. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with him again.
