Pet care experience

A Verified Pet Whisperer!

Hello everyone! I appreciate you taking the time to get to know me! My Experience: I’ve cared for a variety of animals in my 10+ years of experience. The majority of my animal care consists of dogs and cats but I’ve looked after many others such as birds, bunnies, horses, pigs, and tortoises to name a few. My experience stems from my previous jobs working at a local farm and operating my own handyman company. I took a brief pause from Rover to assist at the Animal Refuge League on a more active basis, but in 2023 I decided to reduce my activity so I could reopen my services to provide exceptional care for your loved ones 😊!

Andrew did an absolutely fantastic job with my two dogs. He takes the dogs' enrichment and comfort very seriously and was extremely attentive to their routines, quirks, and energy levels. Alfie, the six-year-old, got to go on fun adventures, while Molly, the eleven-year-old, joined for part of the time and was able to nap quietly at home when she was tired. Molly and Alfie always go nuts when we pick them up from daycare, but when we got them from Andrew they were super mellow, wagging their tails, and happily said goodbye to him. Andrew is communicative and really helped us out by keeping the dogs for an extra two hours when our flight was delayed. He even sent them home with goodie bags from their walk to Fish and Bone! I enthusiastically recommend Andrew and will be booking him again!

Andrew did a fantastic job of taking care of our dog while we were away. I was impressed with the time Andrew took to get to know our dog so he could take the best possible care of him. His communication is excellent, he’s very punctual, and he really knows dogs. Thank you so much, Andrew!

Andrew watched Shadow for a few nights when we were on vacation in Maine. I was nervous to leave her in a new city, but he did great with updates, socializing, and making sure she was taken care of. I would recommend him!

Sesame loved her time with Andrew! Thanks for taking such great care of her. She looked upset that I was coming to pick her and she had to leave her slumber party. See you soon, Andrew!

Andrew took great care of our pup! He was very thorough when we first met, and he definitely knows his stuff when it comes to training and socializing. We loved that Gio was super tired when we picked him up after a weekend with Andrew!

Andrew clearly took taking care of our babies very seriously. Even before he met them, he asked so many questions to get know everything thing about their needs, and habits and likes. Nahla, our 14 yo pittie mix fell in love with him immediately and he showed he knew how to lovingly be in charge right away. He handled her medicine needs like a pro. Alphe, our 16 yo cat, played aloof for a bit and Andrew worked his magic (and the shrimp treats 😁) and soon had Alphie looking for pats. Andrew accommodated Alphie's indoor/outdoor life which not all folks are comfortable doing. So glad to have Andrew as our baby sitter!

Schedule

My Schedule: I have been doing pet care services and developing my own platform for almost 3 years now! I'm very excited to meet and build a relationship with so many new faces. I will have the occasional personal appointments in addition to my weekly walking/adventure schedule- I bring my overnights along for the journey if allowed :), all of which is centered around your animals needs. Depending on your animals activity level and social capacity, we can tailor the stay into whatever will best suit them. For elderly or physically challenged animals- "Pets in Retirement"- the stay can become a movie marathon with lots of love and attention. For more active pets, days could include trails, lake days, mountain hiking, mentally stimulating games, car rides, social events, and beaches- for the winter retreats, snowshoeing, skiing or the occasional snow pile jump! My schedule is dictated my the needs of your animals and the others in my care 😊!

Safety, trust & environment

My Home: My current residence is located in downtown Portland across from Eighty Eight Donuts and adjacent to the Press Hotel. With this centralized location I'm able to offer your kiddos a variety of walking loops and parks to explore such as Deering Oaks, Baxter Woods/Back Cove, East End Beach, Lincoln Park, and the Western Prom. Mainly though, we get outside the city to enjoy what makes Maine great and use our city sanctuary as our resting place! I live in a one bedroom which provides ample space for both myself and the animals I’m caring for. As a pet-friendly space, there are also many new potential friends to be made! With a location in the heart of Portland, I can accommodate those looking to enjoy an evening dinner or weekend in town, in addition to those also seeking a quick and easy access location to the highway on your way out!

A typical day

Since each animal is unique and responds differently, activities are shaped based on the comfortability of your animals. Your pets Age, physical challenges, behavioral traits, energy level, and their anxiety in an outside/inside environment all play a role in determining the best approach. Activities include: Walks, puzzles, movies, hikes, beach time, car rides, social events with other dogs, snow hopping, naps, trail walking, island walking, etc. I love to do a variety of different activities depending on what your pet loves to do! I am both a high-energy environment and a relaxing nap pod.
