I like to keep an eye on the animals under my care and not leave them alone for longer than they're comfortable with. Every dog takes a different amount of exercise, but all dogs appreciate company or enrichment. For check-ins and walks I make sure the house & dogs are okay, and try to give them enough exercise to keep them tired enough to not get anxious before their next check-in or walk. For overnight house sitting I'll be around to play with them or be alerted if the dogs need anything, and I can plan a good routine for the dogs' exercise and potty needs.
