Pet care experience
Dog-loving, home-based artist in Hanover, Brighton
As a child and teenager we had several dogs in our family. As an adult, I have had two JRTs from puppy to old age of my own. More recently I have long-term fostered a Parsons JRT and a French Bulldog. In addition, friends and family call upon me from time to time to board and/or walk their own dogs (currently (and separately) a black lab, and two terrier-cross). I have experience in puppy training, house training, and handling highly reactive, nervous, dogs with social anxiety.

Cleo's first stay with Andrew. She settled in as soon as we arrived and seemed very happy to be there. Andrew updated us regularly during her stay. She had a lovely time with Andrew and will be coming back for another stay soon.

Dusty had a fab time at Andrews house! We got regular updates and picked up a very happy boy at the end of the day. Dusty can’t wait to come back. Thanks a lot!

Andrew is brilliant, and will definitely bring using his services again in the future, thankyou so much Andrew.
Andrew. Superb. My dogs would book themselves in every week if they could.

Chips has had another really positive day with Andrew! 👍😊

Andrew was absolutely brilliant! He is reliable, caring, and clearly loves dogs. My dog came back calm, happy, and well looked after. Communication was great the whole time, with regular updates and photos. I wouldn’t trust anyone else now. Highly recommend.

Schedule
I am a home-based artist and am at home Thursday - Sunday. I have a part-time job Monday -Wednesday. Your dog can have free reign of the house and secure patio garden. So they can hang out with me or if they prefer their own company, there are plenty of places for a bit of peace and quiet. Please note that I do not walk dogs off lead. Walks are typically between 30-60 minutes each time subject to the weather.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
It's a relaxed and quiet household here with just my husband, Steve, and I. We have no other pets and I will only be taking one at a time. Steve works full time and so won't be directly involved in the day to day care of your pet. Dogs can sleep on the bed if that's what they are used to or in their own bed, which can be situated in the main bedroom, kitchen, hallway, as preferred. There are four storeys in our home. Dogs should be happy and confident with stairs although smaller dogs can be carried up and down as required. Being a typical terranced house in Hanover, we don't have terribly large rooms. For this reason, and because of the stairs, I prefer not to host large and very energetic dogs.
A typical day
Ours is a quiet but relaxed household. There'd be quite a lot of hanging out with me in my studio, tummy tickles if allowed, plus of course regular walks as required e.g. around Queens Park, along the dog-friendly parts of the beach. Please note that I do not walk dogs off lead. Walks are typically between 30-60 minutes each time subject to the weather.
- 0 to 7 kg7 to 18 kgDogs over 1 year oldNon-neutered males accepted, spayed females onlyNo females in heatTakes only 1 client at a timeAndrew can host up to 1 pet per night
- However you prefer to do it, please ensure that your dog is fully up to date with their flea and worming medications. Unfortunately, Steve is very allergic to cats so we need to avoid hosting dogs that are in regular contact with cats. This means that if there is a cat in the dog's home environment then we are not able to host your pet - sorry. I am at home for a lot of the time but if I have to pop out briefly, can your pet be left alone at home? How are they when it comes to travelling in cars - we live in Hanover but could we take them up to Stanmer Woods, for example? Are there any special or particular requirements?
