I’ve taken care of animals my whole life and have never gone without a dog in my every day live. I recently lost my dog due to old age, I can’t bring myself to get another dog yet so this is the second best thing I can think of! I would love to shower your dog with love or let them just hang out in the same room if that’s what they need. I have fostered dogs before, had dogs that given birth to puppies, and watch family member dogs often.
