Temporary Digs 4 Dogs!
Hi! I am mom to two pet-loving girls, ages 10 and 7. Dogs have a hold on me. I’m not quite sure why. They just always have. People tell me I must be part-human and part-dog. I think my daughters might be part-dog too -- they pant and pretend much of the time! In 2014, I lost my 18 year old shih tzu to kidney disease that had accelerated much faster than we expected. I felt like I’d lost a son. I vowed after I lost Nibbles that I would get more involved and give back to the species that gives me so much without really trying. I can’t wait to get involved with Rover.com and help pet owners and their pets feel more relaxed when Mom and Dad are out of town. Why I love dog sitting I always have. I grew up with a poodle, then a Lhasa Apso, in my youth. In high school, we adopted two shih tzus. I often feel like there's just something about dogs that tugs at my heart's strings in a way that nothing else does. In high school, I walked a local family's dog daily for about two years, rain or shine. Following high school, I built up a few private clients walking dogs daily or petsitting on weekends. I also worked for an established petsitting company for two summers (all up in the Boston area). About my yard Our backyard is fenced in. My experience administering medication As long as the dog is comfortable receiving it from a (relative) stranger, I am comfortable administering meds. I administered oral meds (pills) as well as some injectables (Adequan) to my senior shih tzu for years.

Benny had another wonderful visit with Andrea and family. As always, he came back calm and happy! We're so grateful to have a safe and caring place to bring him.
As always, Theo was so obviously loved and happy to be with his second family for a 5 night stay. When we arrived for drop off, he was excited and anxious to run inside to say hello. When we left, he was hesitant and looking over his shoulder hoping Andrea and family would follow. Thank you again for welcoming him even in single digit weather with mounds of snow!
Andrea is wonderful! She cared for our young, active 35lb doodle for 8 days while we traveled in June. He was happy and healthy and seemed to have such a wonderful time that he just went for another 5 day stay. He had zero hesitation about bounding out of the car and right back into her home. Again, another great stay. Loved receiving photos of his adventures! I highly recommend using Andrea for your pup boarding.
We love bringing Benny to Andrea's. Once again he's come back to us looking very happy. I'm sure he had lots of love while we were away.
So relieved that for a 2nd time we had a safe and happy place to leave Benny while we were on vacation. Andrea and her family are a wonderful solution when our little guy needs a place to stay when we go away.
It was such a relief and a delight to have Andrea and her girls watch Benny! I was concerned about leaving him because we were going away for a little over a week and he's a lapdog used to a lot of attention. He's almost never away from us. During the meet and greet I could tell Andrea was very familiar with dogs and Benny was very comfortable with her. During his stay she sent us lots of cute pictures and updates, which helped to make our vacation even better. It was obvious that he was well taken care of when we picked him up.... no trauma/ no drama! I'd be happy to have him stay there again.

Schedule
I'm generally home during the day currently, out for errands mainly and the gym. I enjoy taking dogs out for daily walks and backyard playtime.

Safety, trust & environment
We have a fenced-in yard and a house on a quiet street. Our neighborhood is full of families, kids, birds, squirrels, and wild rabbits. I generally do not walk dogs off-leash or leave them unattended in the backyard.
A typical day
Here's where we'll take our walks I LOVE to exercise outdoors, which is one of the reasons I am interested in this role with Rover! I live in a neighborhood full of dogs that get walked a lot, so for dogs with only moderate exercise needs, there are a lot of great places to pee right in our neighborhood. There is also a walking path/biking path (Ten Mile Greenway) and Slater Park, which are 1.5 miles away. Your dog's sleeping arrangement We will probably figure this out together on a case-by-case basis. My shih tzu slept on our bed every night, so we are comfortable with cosleeping, at least with smaller dogs. Time I'll spend with your dog I am a stay-at-home mom, so my schedule is fairly flexible most days. My little girl is in day care two days a week, so those days I am even more available to focus on companions of the canine variety! I generally go to the gym those days, but if I am caring for an active dog, I would ditch the gym and take the dog for a run or walk around our neighborhood or the Ten Mile Greenway walking path.

- For overnight boarding chez-moi, I will need to know how the dog generally interacts with kids. In theory, I would like to accept each and every dog, but in reality, I will need to turn away dogs that are not comfortable (and safe) with our little ladies.
