Information Andrea B. would like to know about your pet

It would be helpful to know what makes them happy! Tell me about their favorite treats or toys, favored exercise methods, any behaviors I should be aware of, general likes/dislikes (i.e. She doesn't like having her feet touched, or if he hates bicycles), and habits like chewing, howling, jumping on things or people they shouldn't, etc. Do let me know about any special medical needs - dietary, exercise, illness, behavioral or otherwise. Nothing is "too much." I've cleaned up more poo than I can comprehend, and I've got a great trick for getting urine spots out of carpet. Not much phases me! It's all about your dog's safety, comfort, health, and well-being.

A typical day

I love to provide enrichment treats or activities! Whether that's rolling kibble up in a frozen towel, hiding a peanut butter-dunked cookie inside a twisted paper towel roll, or helping to train a particular wanted behavior, I'm quite literally game! I love to exercise, so I truly enjoy long walks at the hike & bike or romping around the backyard with a soccer ball/their favorite toy. I've definitely got an arm for fetch! As a hound dog owner, I'm very accustomed to long, rambling walks focused on sniffing and exploring. My German Shepherd/Chow mix taught me all about walks that are more exercise-focused, including swimming.

Pet care experience

Combined with my personal experience caring for multiple dog breeds (Basset Hounds; German Shepherds; Beagles; sweet mutts) from puppyhood to helping them peacefully and lovingly cross the Rainbow Bridge, my background in the zoo and aquarium field gives me a keen understanding of animal behavior, safety, and special dietary and care needs. Further, I believe strongly in enrichment items/activities and breed-specific exercise needs. I love long walks or jogs! I have trained in basic canine medical care (CPR; choking) and have extensive experience in tending to the various needs of elderly dogs, as well as those with special needs at any age. I have no problem with administering injections, supplying medication, or cleaning up messes of any kind. There's nothing sweeter than an old puppy. :) I view pets as family members and look forward to treating your babies as such! (My baby in the profile pic is Maggie May, my 11-year-old "bagel" girl.") I'm currently working from home part-time, so it's easy for me to just bring my laptop for any overnight stays, or to pop over for daily walks and potty breaks. My schedule is flexible. I will respect whatever home and living environment you have established to suit you, your family's, and your pup's specific needs and care. Whether this means they are free to roam about the house, they feel most comfortable in a crate, or they require supervision when outside, I'm more than up to the task. Similarly, if they require a muzzle or if I should keep in mind pertinent details if/when engaging with other animals or people - strong prey drive; anxiety toward certain people; excitement; uncomfortable in some environments - I'm totally understanding and will adjust their care accordingly. Your pet's safety and comfort is paramount to me.

Andrea was great. Her communication up to and during the stay made us feel very comfortable knowing she was watching our dogs. She kept us updated with with pictures and videos during the stay. She even offered to move my car into the garage during a hail storm!

I can’t say enough good things about Andrea!! She stayed at my house for a few nights to watch my 2 Great Danes and they had the best time with her. She sent me pictures and updates every day. Honestly I think Nova was a little sad to see me walk through the doors and not Andrea!! lol I will definitely be using her again and again and again and would highly recommend her!
