Safety, trust & environment
I always approach an animal calmly and patiently allowing them to come to terms with me being in their space. I base the time I walk a dog on owners request and the animals tolerance. If the dog looks in distress after 20 minutes I’ll turn back and head home, occasionally stopping so they can catch their breath or be carried if small. If I’m just stopping in to let a dog out I make sure to have them on leash as is state law until entering a fenced area. If requested by the owner or the dog is interested I’ll play with the animal to get in exercise before they have to go inside. For both cats and dogs, I ensure that enough water is accessible and if they need to be fed they have been. For cats if requested by the owner or if it is an extended sitting or stay I will care for the litter box. As an owner of a cat myself I always check once a week to make sure there has been both fecal and urine output from an animal. This is something I can do on request for owners as well. Cats are masters of disguise when it comes to their health. I have worked hard to learn subtle ques and behaviors from cats to help identify a problem. Unfortunately I do not take requests to let a cat outside unless they have been trained on a leash. After working at a veterinary ER and a wildlife center I have decided that I am unwilling to allow a cat outside unleashed and unsupervised. Cats like dogs also require different forms of enrichment and interaction. If your cat/s are playful and social I can provide active enrichment. I also understand that for some cats strangers are not who they wish to interact with. The animals well being is my first priority and what I focus on when caring for them.
Information Andie P. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog or cat has any special needs or medications I can account for and what they enjoy. I want to make sure my time with them causes little to no stress and that they are as happy as can be.
A typical day
I believe it’s really important to keep a pet happy and engaged. For some dogs that’s as simple as pets and belly rubs for other dogs who have more energy they need walks or a game of tug of war or throwing a ball around. For cats it can also be as simple as a couple head scratches or playing with a string toy. However I also completely understand that some dogs and cats require space and may not need nor want my attention. In those cases I hope to provide the animal with the respect they need so that can maintain a calm and stress free existence when I visit. I love learning the specific needs of each animal I care for because I want to make sure their as happy as can be. I've been learning how to teach tricks and commands to dogs and if requested I can work on these with your dog. Currently I know, sit, stay, come, lay down, paw, and some behavioral ones to distract dogs from triggers(find it, leave it, heel). I am also trying and learning new enrichment tricks on a regular basis with my own pets and would love to introduce your pet to the things I've learned.

Reviews

Andi was AMAZING! She took care of our pets like they were her own providing us with information and sweet photos during our time away. Our pets loved her. In addition, she had our house cleaned and the bed she used washed and remade when we arrived home knowing we'd be tired. We are so grateful we found her as knowing our pets were in her care let us enjoy our vacation worry free.
