Took a break and getting back into Rover for the summer! I currently work as a conservation biologist full time (~60% computer work anywhere there’s wifi, and 40% field work) but with flexible hours! I can fit in many opportunities throughout the week to make drop ins and house sit as needed :) I just ask that when making house sitting appointments, that you are okay with me stepping out for up to 5 hours (1-2x/week) — thank you!

I like to get a detailed list of everything you’d like me to stay aware of while I’m watching your precious pups. I also make sure your pet stays entertained and exercised, or if they are more quiet and sedentary, I like to frequently show them love with good pets (and maybe treats if you allow!) I want your pet to feel comfortable around me so I’m always aware of the energy I give off and try to make the pets feel at home in their own environment. For dog walking, I carry pepper spray, stay aware of my surroundings and avoid suspicious areas or dangerous terrain. I also have rattlesnake experience, so I know how to avoid where they burrow and how to evacuate safely if I do see one. I also have experience breaking up dog fights, and reestablishing a calm environment for the dogs.

A typical day
At home, I feed our dogs unprocessed foods - my sister and I boil chicken and vegetables, sometimes adding in extra vitamins in for their nutrition! We make sure they’re happy with toys and cognitive activities, and also monitor them with a pet camera while they’re out. Caring for our pets go beyond simply feeding! As far as your pet goes, I am happy to share lots of photos to help you keep a close eye on your fur baby, administer medications and even cook home made meals for them how I do at home if need be. Some of my specialties are dog-friendly broccoli chicken peanut risotto, simple hard-boiled eggs, and peanut butter frozen yogurt dessert treats! Your pet and I can go on walks, play with their favorite toys, eat their favorite treats after some tricks, anything you tell me they love to do! I also used to be a professional gardener before my current career, so if you’d like me to do any yard work for you, let me know and we can add gardening into my visit! All of my house-sitting visits come with complementary 1x/day dog walks and home cooked chicken and rice based meals if you like!

Responsible, loving, & punctual 💚
Pet care experience
Being the daughter of a local pet groomer, I’ve grown up helping care for all breeds of dogs and cats - I love them all! I’ve even grown up taking care of horses. Over the years I’ve housesat, done drop in visits and walked dogs for friends and family. I’m very communicative, and if you would like me to, I will send lots of photos or updates to keep you comfortable with how the stay is going and keep accountability. Your pets safety and happiness is my top priority! While I don’t have experience caring for snakes, rats, birds, and other pets, I am happy to apply the same principles of responsibility and care for your pet if you give me a solid run-down! It’s been a while since I’ve had horses, but if you need me to feed them and check in on them, I can do that too!

Reviews

It was immediately obvious that Amy has had dogs in her entire life. Both of my pups immediately loved her as if they had been good buddies forever. DOGS JUST KNOW! Jojo, the 1 year old Cocker Spaniel, always freaks out with new people, but not with Amy. The 6 1/2 year old German Shepherd, Princess, acted like she had known Amy her whole life.

Amy was amazing! Arrived early & gave a super detailed report card!!! 100% will use her again! :)

Amy was awesome and took care of my dog for two days when I had to go out of town last minute for a family member's health issue. She was on top of everything as instructed and sent me regular updates so I didn't have to worry about anything. 100% recommended and would book again. Thanks, Amy!

Amy did an amazing job looking after our senior pup! She was very punctual and followed instructions as were left for her. She did a wonderful job communicating during and after her check-in’s. I look forward to rebooking Amy next time we need a dog sitter!
