I can be very flexible depending on what you need and are looking for. I'm open to looking after farms/horses and unusual/exotic pets so please get in touch to discuss. For farms and small holdings I'm willing to travel further afield aslong as I can bring my dog with me.

I ask that all pets are fully vaccinated (Including Kennel Cough) and up to date with flea & worm prevention and proof must be provided in the form of Vaccination Cards. I will make a record of this for my files. This is to ensure that my house remains safe for everyone. All dogs must be dog friendly as I have my own Sweet Golden Retriever. In terms of my approach to interactions with pets, I am completely reward based science backed and an aversive free home, so no slip leads, prong or shock collars are allowed. I kindly request that any dogs are in a normal collar and/or harness. Finally, I like to get information from everyone before accepting bookings, so I can plan ahead. I love to know as much as possible about your pet. From their day-to-day routine, their likes and dislikes, and their favourite activities so that I can make them feel as comfortable as possible. Also, if your pet has any health and medical needs (including being in season), I really need to know so that I can properly care for them. Written instructions are always appreciated but I always make notes at meet and greets anyway and I will ask you to fill out a form.

A typical day

I pride myself on being as flexible as possible. When you request a booking with me, I like to go through what your pet likes and dislikes, and their normal routine, so that I can provide as much stability and familiarity as possible. Whether it’s a walk in the morning or evening, playing fetch, tug, chase, doing training, doing scatterfeeds to keep their sniffy noses stimulated, or simply having some snuggles on the sofa, I can do whatever is needed to keep your fur baby happy.

Pet care experience

When I was 3, my parents adopted a border collie cross puppy, and I instantly fell in love. From then on, my parents knew that wherever Holly was, they would find me too. Because I wanted to know anything and everything about animals, I decided to study them in school and college (Animal Mangagment BTEC), and when my parents got another border collie puppy when I was 15 I became the main trainer for her. Training Poppy quickly became one of my favourite things to do. Getting to spend so much time with her, build an amazing bond with her, and see the incredible dog she became was the highlight of every day. With the support of an incredible dog trainer, we passed all levels of the Kennel Club Good Citizens Award first time, and I couldn't have been prouder of her. When college finished and I'd volunteered with the dog trainer, learning tips and tricks along the way, as well as worked in a kennels and cattery and horse stables for experience, I began university. I enrolled on an Animal Management and Behaviour course, and achieved my FDSC. I absolutely adored every minute of the course, especially because it also gave me experience with farm and zoo animals and I was able to learn a variety of new skills and knowledge from lambing and hand rearing a variety of animals to clicker and target training a variety of exotic species from lemurs to otters. It was the absolute best and I gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. After graduation, I moved in with my now-wife, and we began growing our little pet family. First, we adopted a stray cat, Kiara, who jumped in through the window and never left (much to our joy). Then, because I was desperate to have a dog around the house, we became foster carers for Dog's Trust, handling medical cases, puppies, and more. In 2021, they foolishly gave us an 8 week old golden retriever puppy who had been surrendered due to health issues. She quickly became the light of our lives, and we proudly failed that foster. I now have my heart dog, and I’ve worked extensively with a trainer & organisation to support us and couldn't be happier. To me, a home is not complete without animals, and thanks to my mix of formal education and fortune, I feel comfortable handling a variety of situations, including medication, day to day enrichment, walks, play, training, and more! I’d be honoured to be trusted with your pets.

Trixie had a lovely stay with Amy and Skye. Trixie had been staying at kennels but has grown too used to her home comforts for this. Amy put our minds at ease at our first meeting, we knew Trixie would be made to feel safe, comfortable and just as well looked after as she is at home! During Trixie’s stay we received lots of updates showing what a great time Trixie was having and how she’d so easily made herself at home thanks to Amy. We’d highly recommend Amy and Trixie will be looking forward to a second visit soon!

We are so glad that we have found Amy. From the very first meeting we knew that Chiquita would be in safe hands. Chiquita had an absolute ball with Amy, so much so that I think she was a bit disappointed to be going home. I can't recommend Amy highly enough and am already planning Chiquita's next stay.

I’m so pleased I found Amy, she really is a great sitter. I have an older Miniature Schnauser who can be quite dramatic if she is stressed somewhere. There’s a chance Marcie actually likes Amy’s more than her actual home :) Amy paid attention and was keen to understand everything about our dog, she communicates really efficiently and I know we’ll book her again. Thanks Amy.

Thank you so much, Amy, for looking after our boy! Amy is extremely experienced and competent, which made us feel completely comfortable with the whole experience. Gruff has come back happy and content, clearly having had a great time. I especially appreciated Amy's communication - we received frequent updates and she always replied promptly. Thanks so much, we will be back!
