About Amy P.

Safety, trust & environment

I can only do drop-in visits rather than boarding because my resident dogs aren't so keen on other canines, if you catch my drift. Wouldn't be a good fit, so to speak.

Information Amy P. would like to know about your pet

I've cared for blind dogs, sight- and hearing-impaired dogs, dogs with significant mobility issues, diabetic dogs, and dogs with severe anxiety and those who experienced trauma. All of these require prior knowledge so that accommodations can be discussed and a plan put in place. We want to make sure they can have as much fun during visits as possible.

A typical day

Dogs really need to get their wiggles out and we could try fetch/"throw," hide and seek, tug of war, enrichment games (floating/bobbing for treats in plastic pool, etc) but generally walks around their neighborhood or at a park allows them to be stimulated via sights, sounds and smells that would help them better navigate the experience of being at home alone.

FULL-TIME SITTER OF 10 YEARS

Pet care experience

Just relocated to TX from Salt Lake City and we are doing this! Grew up in Northern California, oldest daughter of animal lovers--dogs, cats, pigs, horses--and had zig zagged across the nation before finally settling in Salt Lake City, Utah for 26 years, 15 of which was dedicated to growing my own pet sitting business, 10 of those 15 years going full-time at it. Over the 10 full-time years, I was the sole proprietor and employee, gathering all new family info, communicating about dates and making sure the calendar is 100% accurate, doing every sit and organizing my days for time efficiency, and reaching out to families to ensure they know all is wonderful so they can enjoy (to the highest extent possible) their time away from their pet. Being the sole sitter for a business of that size was intense but from the depths of that intensity came truly profound connections with these pets and their families, as well as a lot of good humorous times. Which led to another business but I digress. Before I left Salt Lake City for my new venture in Austin-ish in June 2026, I was still sitting for over 60 families, some of whom had been with me for at least a decade. I am conscientious, joyful, observant, and above all attentive to the language of animals (e.g., their behavior) so as to forever reach towards getting to watch them fully experience the sense of trust and safety they deserve.

Our family can always count on Amy, and our dogs and cats love her. We had peace of mind knowing she was caring for our crew when we had to be away from home. She also went above and beyond to help with things like bringing in mail and deliveries as well which we so appreciated. She was so caring of our fur family and our home! One of our dogs has special needs and is slow to trust and he loved her like no other. Amy is as responsible, kind and trustworthy as a person could be.

Amy has been pet sitting for us for almost 15 years, and at this point she truly feels like part of our family. She is caring, responsive, dependable, and genuinely loves our pets and our home. She goes above and beyond in every possible way. One time while we were out of the country, Amy was caring for our cats while our dogs were boarding. One of our dogs became sick, and Amy immediately stepped in — she picked her up, took her to the vet, brought her back to our home, and personally cared for her there until we returned. I honestly don’t know what we would have done without her. Because of Amy, I never worry about our pets or our home when we travel. That peace of mind is priceless. She spends real quality time with each pet, plays with them, brings her own toys (which our cats love even more than ours), and is incredibly thoughtful and creative with them. She also sends photo and video updates at every visit, which we always appreciate. Our pets absolutely adore her. One of our cats normally hides from everyone, yet with Amy he immediately comes out to be loved on. Animals truly trust her. Amy is a rare person and an extraordinary pet sitter, and I cannot recommend her highly enough.
