Pet care experience

No dog of my own - will love yours!

I grew up in a house with 2 springer spaniels (and several other pets), one of which I'd received for my 9th birthday. I was completely responsible for training and caring for my own dog and really worked hard at it. She was such a pivotal part of my growing up years. Now many years later, I house and dog sit often for friends and really enjoy getting to know their pets. I have no dog of my own (although I do have two wonderful cats), my kids are grown and in college, and I have lots of energy and a pretty good amount of free time. I work full time in Clinton but rise early and have time prior to work, during lunch, and in the evenings. I love long walks! I've also taken great care of my own home so am happy to care for yours, your plants, a cat or two, what have you. Two in college so hoping to have fun with dogs and earn a bit of extra income!

Amy is dependable, reliable, our pets love her, and she’s an all around a gem! We feel so confident leaving town knowing she is with our pets! And they love all her attention, playtime, long walks. So glad to have found her!

Amy is a reliable, trusted and confident dog sitter. She looked after my Border Collie, Indie, for up to a week, on a number of occasions. She had no problem with his energy and quirks (Border Collies, right?) and he was always happy to see her. As her co-worker for a dozen years or so, she knows her limits, and follows through on commitments. Her job is to co-ordinate volunteers, and there is no one more acutely aware of unreliable 'help'. I have no hesitation in recommending Amy for this volunteer position.

Amy J. is a prime example of someone who makes a superb dog sitter. She is super conscientious, with great attention to detail and punctuality. She is very communicative; if there is any kind of issue, whether with a scheduling problem, or with concerns about dogs in her care, you will never be left guessing about what is going on. Most of all she is one of the most compassionate people I know. She cares about dogs. She cares about their owners. I have had the pleasure of knowing Amy for 15 years, and can guarantee you will be happy with her as your dog sitter.

Amy recently cared for our elderly dog, Sam, while we were out of town for several days, and she was just awesome! She was very responsible in learning about all aspects of caring for Sam (feedings, walks, medications, etc.) and was conscientious about checking in when we returned to make sure he wasn't left unattended for too long. We felt very comfortable leaving Sam in her hands and would definitely turn to her again! Amy is a kind, loving person who will care for your pup like he/she was her own. She is responsible, reliable, and trustworthy -- the sort of person who will give you peace of mind. I highly recommend her!!

I did sit a friend's elderly dog and it was helpful to know his capabilities (going up and down stairs, getting onto or off of the couch where he slept), eating habits, and medication needs. Beyond that, just a bit about your dog's personality, whether he is good with other dogs and people/kids so that I'm aware of what to watch for when we are out walking, and any health problems I should look out for. I like all breeds, although I did indicate not over 100 pounds is preferable. I have administered injected medicine to a cat I was sitting, but not to a dog - I would think that skill would translate.
