I work remotely, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to accommodate a wide variety of pet care needs. While I occasionally travel for work, those trips are typically short and planned well in advance. I keep my calendar updated and will never accept a booking that I cannot personally fulfill. I pride myself on being dependable, communicative, and realistic about my availability. If you have a unique schedule or special request, feel free to reach out. I can often accommodate arrangements outside of my listed availability. In the rare event of an emergency, I have a trusted support system available to assist me. However, no one will ever enter your home or interact with your pets without your knowledge and explicit permission.

Safety, trust & environment

I provide care in your pet’s home, where they are most comfortable and can maintain their normal routine. Whether your pet needs feeding, medication, playtime, enrichment, litter box cleaning, potty breaks, walks, cuddles, or simply companionship, I am committed to following your instructions and caring for them as if they were my own. With more than 20 years of professional pet care experience, I understand the importance of respecting your home, privacy, and personal space. I pride myself on being a reliable communicator and am happy to provide updates, photos, and videos at whatever frequency makes you most comfortable. Your pet’s safety is always my top priority. I am experienced with senior pets, medical needs, diabetic care, medications, kittens, shy animals, feral rehabilitation, and multi-pet households. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, preferences, and personality to ensure they receive individualized care. I completely understand and respect the use of security cameras in the home; I have them myself. The only thing I ask is that indoor cameras be disclosed in advance. This preference comes from a past personal experience unrelated to pet sitting, and I’m always happy to discuss it further if you have any questions.

Information Amy D. would like to know about your pet

Give me all the details! I know it can feel like homework, but I genuinely want to know everything about your pet (and home). Tell me about the weird stuff, too. The cat who only drinks from the bathroom sink. The dog who refuses to poop if a leaf is touching the sidewalk. The kitten who must carry a toy around while screaming at 3 a.m. The more I know about their routine, likes, dislikes, fears, medications, favorite treats, hiding spots, commands, and quirks, the easier I can make the transition for them. My goal is for your pet to think, "Oh, cool. The snack lady is here," not "Where did my humans go?"

A typical day

Every pet is different, so my day revolves around their routine, not mine! For dogs, that might mean walkies, playtime, enrichment games, training reinforcement, snackies, belly rubs, and lots of love. For cats, it could be Weruva Puddy Pop bribery, wand toy marathons, brushing sessions, birb-watching companionship, or simply sharing a quiet space together. What I bring to every visit, with your approval: 🐾 High-value treats and toys 🐾 Professional behavior observations and insights 🐾 Positive reinforcement training support 🐾 General nutrition guidance and feeding recommendations 🐾 Medication administration, including diabetic care 🐾 Plenty of photos and videos for your peace of mind 🐾 Experience with seniors, kittens, puppies, shy pets, and special-needs animals 🐾 An extra set of trained eyes to notice changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, or litter box habits 🐾 I will always put my used items in a pile for easy transition back to your routine. Please let me know if you'd like me to "AirBnb" the home (take out all trash, strip bedding, etc) For my feline friends, I often leave a recently worn article of clothing during our meet-and-greet so they can become familiar with my scent before visits begin. It's a small trick I've learned through rescue work, fostering, and rehabilitating feral cats that can help make introductions less stressful. Need a little extra help while you're away? I'm often happy to assist with: • Bringing in packages • Watering plants • Washing pet dishes • Switching laundry • Coordinating vet visits • Taking out litter or pet waste • Other reasonable household tasks My goal is simple: your pets stay happy, safe, and loved, and you come home to a house that's just as you left it.

Pets are my life, yours will be too

Pet care experience

Animals have been the center of my life for over 20 years. I started pet sitting at 15 and, at 16, became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT) and manager of a dog training program. Over the next 11 years, I worked with more than 500 dogs and puppies, helping both pets and their humans build happy, positive relationships. Today, I work remotely in the pet industry as a Social and Community Impact Manager, which means I have a flexible schedule and plenty of time to give your pets the attention they deserve. Bonus: you’ll receive lots of adorable photo and video updates during my visits! My experience includes: 🐾 Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT) 🐾 Pet CPR & First Aid Certified 🐾 Medication Administration (pills, liquids, injections, diabetic care, IV fluids, and more) 🐾 Senior pets and special-needs pets 🐾 Puppies and training reinforcement 🐾 Multi-pet households 🐾 Diabetic cats and complex medical routines 🐾 Kitten fostering and neonatal kitten care 🐾 Feral cat rehabilitation and socialization In addition to caring for client pets, I foster kittens and help rehabilitate feral cats, giving them the skills and confidence they need to thrive in loving homes. I also volunteer weekly at a cat rescue, where I help socialize, feed, clean, medicate, and care for homeless cats. I’ve been trusted with the care of numerous diabetic cats and understand how important consistency, patience, and attention to detail are when caring for pets with medical needs. I currently share my home with my rescue dog, Bó, so I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and quirks. Whether your pet is energetic, shy, senior, medically complex, or just wants extra cuddles, I’ll provide the individualized care they deserve. Please note that I currently offer drop-in visits and pet sitting in your home only. I do not offer boarding. Dog walks are available on a case-by-case basis, so feel free to reach out to discuss your pet’s needs. My goal is simple: to make sure your pets feel safe, comfortable, loved, and cared for while you’re away, and to give you complete peace of mind through reliable communication and plenty of updates. Based in Astoria and excited to meet you and your furry family members!

Excellent communication and care! Amy went above and beyond when Ralph was having a tough time. When my cat was stressed and hiding under the bed, Amy stayed calm, gave her space, and kept me updated every step of the way. She is proactive, communicative, and clearly very experienced with feline behavior. I felt totally at ease knowing Ralph was in such capable hands! She even brought her own toys/food to help facilitate Ralph’s comfort level.

Amy was so amazing with our Phoebe! She’s a puppy and can be a bit of a handful but Amy kept up with (and calmed) her crazy! She was communicative, thoughtful, and went above and beyond. Definitely recommend her if you want your pup to have the best time ever!
