Availability
I work full-time from 9am to 6pm, but I typically have Fridays and Saturdays off. I have an hour lunch break that I use to check in on your pets and let them out if needed. I very occasionally drive the out-of-state animal transports at the ASCMV, but I close my bookings in advance when those days are scheduled.

Safety, trust & environment
I let the pet take the lead when it comes to their comfort level. I know that not every dog or cat is immediately as friendly and playful with strangers as they are with their owners, so I like to be respectful of their autonomy and never push them out of their comfort zone.
Information Amy D. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know about any behavioral quirks or special habits that the owner may know of, as it would help me to acquaint myself better with the pet(s) I would like to also know about any allergies or special dietary needs, as well, especially for cases like drop-ins or house sittings.
A typical day
Walks along the trails they are most comfortable with are perfectly fine with me! No reason to get them nervous or stressed by taking them to some place they haven't been to before. I typically avoid dog parks unless it's requested by our clients as it can provide stress, anxiety, and possible danger for dogs that aren't familiar with the experience and aren't already known to enjoy them. For playtime, I like to take them outside and use their toys for fetch or tug-of-war! I can spend as long as the pup needs for playtime and walking to make sure they get all of their physical and mental enrichment for the day.

Pet care experience
I have grown up with pets my whole life; a mixture of dogs, cats, lizards, and pocket pets! I currently have 4 cats and is a semi-frequent animal foster in hopes they can be comfortable in a home before they find their forever family. I also have a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, with a minor in Human-Animal Interactions. My full-time job is at the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley as an Adoption and Rescue Coordinator. I have been working at the shelter for almost 8 years now. At work, I have professional experience handling dogs and cats of all sizes, temperaments, and personalities! I also have experience giving oral and injected medication so if your pet has frequent meds, don't worry, I can take care of it!
Reviews

Fantastic as always!

I have used Amy several times to pet sit my dog and every time she has been amazing! She goes out of her way to make sure Benji is well taken care of, and always leaves my house in excellent condition. I would highly recommend her.

Amy’s the best, hands-down.

Amy is the best pet sitter ever! She provided daily updates and went out of her way to assist me when I had travel issues on my way home. Would highly recommend her!
