Lifelong Animal Lover and Rescuer

Born animal lover here! I adopted my first cat at the age of 9 and have had a house full of pets ever since. I first started pet-sitting while attending university, eventually starting my own business, "The Friendly Pet Sitter", which kept me busy for several years. I closed up shop after the birth of my fourth child, but would become involved in animal rescue a few years later. It started with one foster puppy, and over the next decade, I would go on to foster literally hundreds of dogs and cats. I have fostered everything from puppies + kittens to seniors, diabetic animals, post-surgical rehab and behavioural cases, bottle babies, and everything in between. I completed the Cochrane Humane Society's training apprenticeship program, putting in hundreds of hours working with shelter dogs. I have a solid understanding of canine behaviour and use only positive reinforcement handling methods. My animal-loving teens have grown up rescuing animals and there is never a shortage of attention to go around.

Amy takes great care of our 2 terriers! It’s so nice to be able to go away on a holiday and know they are safe and happy. And we get pictures and a note every day while we are away which is very nice. Thank you Amy!

Amy and her family always take such good care of Charlie, we can't thank her enough. He is always given the time and space to settle in to his new surroundings at his own pace. Amy provides regular in-depth updates and great photos of his stay. It is always an excellent experience with Amy, thank you for looking after our little guy again.

Amy is absolutely amazing, yet again, Rosie had the best weekend! She had so much fun playing and hanging out and even made some new friends, which we love. We always look forward to the updates and photos and updates Amy sends. You can truly see how happy Rosie is. It’s her mini vacation too! Whenever we travel, It’s really become a comfortable home away from home for her, and we’re so grateful to have found someone we trust completely. Highly recommend Amy! 💛

Our two terriers stayed with Amy for 2 weeks while we were in Florida. Amy took great care of them and sent regular pictures and updates which we loved. They even got to go to work with her a couple of times. It was so reassuring to have them so well cared for when we were far away. We highly recommend Amy and will have the dogs stay with her when we travel again.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a huge fenced yard in a private and secure cul-de-sac, and fantastic walking paths in the neighbourhood. My senior pets are veteran hosts and will welcome your fur-babies with kindness, with ample access to separation within the home if they prefer more space. Pets can be kenneled or free to roam. Walks will be on-leash only.

Pets

A typical day

A typical day at home with the pets will include a mix of activity and down-time. Plenty of supervised outdoor time in the huge fenced yard with the resident dogs, playing fetch, or going for leashed walks on the neighbourhood pathways. Lots of cuddles and lounge time with the animal-loving resident teens. Basic obedience and tricks can be worked on as well.
