Reviews

I personally would not hire Amelia as a sitter as I don’t feel our expectations for standard of care match. Amelia was hired for a 3 day sit. All instructions & information was reviewed at a meet & greet. In addition, all information was in writing, as my dog has some additional needs due to medical conditions. Generally, Amelia was instructed that our dog needed to go potty 2hrs after meds/feeding, that is ok to leave for about 4hrs at a time during the day (with the exception of med/meal) and to stay over night in the event he would need anything; in addition to the basics: feeding, potty, play. Total time spent with my dog varied from as little as 90 mins total to 3hrs. The issue with the little time spent with him is mostly a concern that he was not getting play time, as being a great dane, he cannot play & eat in the same hour. He needs inactivity 1hr before & after eating. And the line up of the visits/time would not have given play time. On the first day, Amelia informed me via messaging that her husband would be stopping by to let out my dog in the event she was unable. This should have been discussed up front, not once the sit started (which Amelia acknowledged & apologized for via message). I find this to be a safety concern because I didn’t have the opportunity to meet this person, nor see how my dog interacts with him/vice versa. The potty 2hrs after med/meals was not followed on either of the first 2 days. The longest stretches during the day that he was left alone was 6.5 & 6 hrs, which may be fine for some dogs but were not my instructions. Amelia did not stay over night as asked initially. Even when mentioning it again in a message; it did not happen. Amelia had messaged me stating that “if I see her leave, don’t worry I’ll be back; just checking on my own pups”. I went to bed that night thinking my dog would have someone there over night but was sadly mistaken when I woke up to see he had not. Amelia was not transparent about not staying overnight. Instruction was also given that Dobby typically goes about 8 hours over night. He was left alone for 9 hrs the first night & 9.5 the second. She let Dobby out for his “bedtime potty” just shy of 9pm on night 1 & at 7:30 night 2. When leaving at 7:30, I had been giving her the benefit of doubt thinking she’d be back that night. 7:30 bedtime does not feel acceptable, especially when his given routine is typically a 10pm bedtime. Concerns were mentioned via messaging during the visit to give her a chance to change what she was doing/follow the directions, starting night 1. Amelia stated feeling confident in the care she was providing & asked to keep “communication about care updates between us”. Unfortunately, I felt the need to express my concerns to others looking for a sitter. Amelia did mention on the third & final day, she had something personal going on this week. While that may have impacted her usual standard, it doesn’t change the fact that directions were not followed. Had Amelia communicated that initially & discussed how it would impact the level of care she could provide, we may have been able to work out something to work with both her needs & my dog. It’s frustrating that my dogs needs were communicated before the sit occurred, she agreed to them, and then they weren’t followed. I certainly wasn’t trying to track her, but I do have a ring camera on my house so it alerts me when someone is at my front door so I kept getting alerts if she arrived/left and I got suspicious when I saw the in/out time being much shorter than what was discussed. I love my dog and so I take his medical condition and chance of bloat pretty seriously. Thankfully he seems okay since we’ve been back but in the past when he wasn’t give the appropriate potty breaks he’s had urinary issues to follow from holding it too long. There was some improvement with following the directions on the final day, after many messages & reminders the previous days. Amelia did have quick responsiveness throughout the stay & was respectful of our home. However, I’m very disappointed in this sitter.

The absolute best in every way. Amelia was extremely responsive, flexible, and above all professional. She treated my Dog like royalty and went above and beyond. Amelia will always be my first choice and recommendation to others.
Amelia loves your animals as if they were her own. She is attentive to their needs and wants only for them to have fun and feel loved. She is extremely athletic and will exercise your pets to keep them in top shape. Dogs and cats appreciate her calm assertive nature. She has experience in caring for most domestic pets; birds, cats, dogs, horses, cows, and hamsters. I trust Amelia 100% with my pets.
Amelia is one of my closest friends, and one of the reasons is because of how caring she is. She loves animals and is always so happy when she's around them. We've volunteered at animal shelters together and she genuinely fell in love with every dog we walked. Only down side of her being around dogs on a regular basis is she'll not only want to adopt them from you, but she'll also get them to fall in love with her.
