Pet care experience

WFH/Trade Student, New Parents

Growing up, my mom was the type of woman you could say had a bleeding heart for anything with a beating heart. When I came into the picture, there were two dogs ready to protect me and catch anything I might have accidentally dropped from my high chair. Over the course of my childhood, we took in multiple stray cats and rescued supermutts from the pound and humane society. I don’t think we ever went without a pet in the house growing up, so naturally when I got my big girl job and was lucky enough to afford a house of my own, my husband and I rescued three kitties and a puppy of our own! I enrolled Milo, the dog, into puppy socialization classes and progressed him through Level 3 Obedience. Since then I have helped train a friend’s puppy to recall and helped my parents with reactive leash training.

Safety, trust & environment

I am the proud owner a puppy who is ecstatic for the chance to meet new friends through Rover and a few cats who have no idea this is happening. Our pet care is largely automated so that we can focus on the fun stuff - we have a communal water fountain, auto-scoop litters that are inaccessible to the dogs, and auto-feeders. With another puppy in the mix, I would disable the auto-feeder for Milo or make sure that I’m feeding your dog at the same time in a separate room to prevent food aggression. I have an invisible fence in backyard with plenty of space for the dogs to run around outdoors and use the bathroom if they are trained. I also have a 4 mile walking path that allows me to take walks with dogs away from the dangers of traffic. Each exterior door has a mat that the dog can use if it’s button-trained. Typically my husband and I will let Milo out once in the morning, once before bed, and before and after we leave the house together. If it’s too cold for extended outside play, I have 1.5 years’ worth of Bark Box Super Chewer toys on both levels of the home to keep your dog busy! With Milo being only 40 lbs, I do not have a crate that would fit a larger dog, but I can make space on our hardwood main level if you have a crate that your dog would prefer to sleep in. I also have baby gates that can be put up if needed to prevent your puppy from getting into trouble!

Amelia and Daniel were wonderful with our older dog Tad! We were gone for an entire week and came back to a very happy and relaxed dog. Very communicative and accommodating! Will absolutely be rebooking in the future!

Daniel was very nice and was patient with my nervous dog! He did a great job getting her to like him coming over by the end of the visits from Rover!

Schedule

I am fortunate enough to have a job that allows me to work remotely. Outside of weekly grocery shopping, I’m pretty much home during the normal business hours. If I am pet sitting I would make sure I manage my calendar to meet your pets’ needs. I recently became a new mother to a beautiful baby girl. While my schedule will return to the original statement in September, my maternity leave schedule is an evolving situation as I figure things out. My husband works part-time first shift hours and attends technical school part-time. Our overlapping availabilities is what makes scheduling a little more nuanced than the app suggests, but we’d love to see if we could be a good fit for your needs!

My top priority is safety. For the safety of my child, it is critical for me to understand how your pet is around babies. For the safety of my pets, it is important for me to know that your pet has been vaccinated and what kind of experience your dog has had with cats and high-energy puppies. For the comfort and safety of your pets, it is important to know if there are any behaviors I should be mindful of. Does your dog display signs of aggression when eating, indicating resource guarding behaviors? Does your dog like to chew on household objects or clothing and eat them? Is your dog on any dietary restrictions such that I should only be giving them treats and food that you provide? Is your dog comfortable with male visitors? If there was an emergency situation, where does your dog go to the vet? To ensure better quality of care, it’s helpful for me to understand how often your dog needs to be taken out to use the bathroom, how often and how much they are fed each day, how your dog likes to play/exercise, and if there are any training behaviors you are working on. How does your dog signal that they need to use the bathroom? Does your dog dig holes outside? Do you want your dog jumping up on furniture, or on people? Does your dog bark? The bottom line is: the more information you can give me about your puppy, the better I can be prepared and take care of their needs while you are away :)
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
