Double the care, home all day!
Aloha! I’m Amber, a pet sitter based in Grand Junction, Colorado, with 14 years of pet care experience. I have experience caring for dogs of all ages, from puppies to seniors, as well as a wide variety of breeds and sizes, ranging from Yorkies to Great Danes. I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine, and individual needs, and I tailor their care accordingly. - I currently offer boarding in my home for up to two dogs from the same household at a time, allowing me to provide each guest with plenty of individual attention and care. My goal is to provide a comfortable, home-like environment where your pets can feel safe, settled, and cared for while you’re away. - In addition to dogs, I have previous experience caring for cats, birds, reptiles, and other small animals. I’m not currently offering standalone boarding services for these pets; however, additional pets from the same household may be considered when boarding your dog. - At this time, I’m only offering boarding in my home and am not available for in-home pet sitting at other locations. Amber helped care for my dog Winston regularly for over three years. She always made sure he got to enjoy himself and get plenty of attention. She took him to the lake and dog park, let him try all the pup cup options around town, made homemade dog treats, and included him in playdates where he even found himself a girlfriend! As Winston got older, he could be pretty picky about eating, and sometimes the only things we could surely get him to eat were hot dogs and chicken nuggets. His favorite was a chili cheese dog from Sonic! Amber took a more holistic approach to his diet and treats and would come up with creative ways to get him interested in his food, from mixing quail eggs into his kibble to turning his dinner into little pumpkin pies for special occasions. Her own dog eats fruits and veggies like they’re a steak dinner, so it was always funny and a little shocking to hear about what she had cooked up! Winston grew up with cats in our household and met Amber’s dog Behr when Behr was just a tiny thing... no bigger than the hot dogs Winston loved! It took Winston a little time to get used to the small puppy, and he had no interest in the little brown ball of energy at first. But being a Great Pyrenees, he eventually welcomed Behr into his flock. They ended up sharing a lot of adventures together over the years. When Winston started having health concerns and we couldn’t figure out exactly what was going on, Amber was great about paying attention to changes and keeping track of his symptoms. Since she knew him so well, she could usually tell when something seemed off. Having another person paying attention to those changes was really helpful when talking with his vet and trying to narrow down what could be going on. Amber cared deeply for Winston, and it showed throughout the years she knew him. He was always excited to see her, and I knew I could trust her to look after him and treat him like one of her own.

Schedule
I work from home, so I’ll be available throughout your pet’s stay to help maintain their normal routine and make sure they feel comfortable and secure.

Safety, trust & environment
My home has a fully fenced yard for safe outdoor time, play, and potty breaks. I also have a 20 lb male Havanese who lives in the home. - For safety and to help everyone adjust comfortably, I accept no more than two guest dogs at a time. I typically do a quick door hand-off at drop-off to help keep the transition calm and minimize distractions. Once your dog comes inside with me, they’re given time to explore the space at their own pace. We’ll then unpack their things and give them some time to settle in and get comfortable before introducing them to my dog. Introductions are done one-on-one, gradually, and under my close supervision. - Playtime is supervised, and separation from my own dog using a playpen or kennel is available as needed for individual enrichment, personal space, or throughout the stay if your dog is more comfortable on their own. Dogs are also separated during mealtimes based on their individual needs, feeding habits, and comfort levels. - If your dog normally sleeps or eats in a crate, please bring it with them when possible so I can maintain their usual routine. Depending on the size of their crate or setup, I may not always be able to accommodate their typical arrangement, so please let me know in advance. - At this time, I only offer pet sitting in my home and am not available for in-home sitting at other locations.

If you would like your dog to participate in outings such as trips to the dog park or other special socialization activities, please let me know in advance. Outings are offered on a case-by-case basis based on your dog’s temperament, comfort level, and individual needs. - For your dog’s safety, please provide information about their behavior while riding in a vehicle, comfort getting in and out of a vehicle, experience in public settings and around unfamiliar dogs or people, and recall reliability. - All outings and special socialization activities require your prior knowledge and approval. - Stays of 10 days or longer include a complimentary bath. If your dog has any skin sensitivities or allergies, specific bathing needs, preferences or aversions to water or dryers, please let me know prior to their stay.

- Upon confirmed booking, I’ll provide a printable PDF intake form that can be emailed back to me. We all get busy and sometimes profiles or care instructions are out of date, so I like to gather the most current information before your dog’s stay to ensure the best care possible. I do have a dog of my own in the home, so for everyone’s safety, I also kindly request a copy of your dog’s current vaccination records. Mahalo for your understanding!
