Availability
I currently work as a kennel tech at a daycare and boarding facility. I am usually scheduled from 6am to 12pm, but I also have some days where I work longer hours. I don't work more than thirty hours a week. My classes for school (Spring 2026) are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 11:30am-3:30pm. I then have another class at 5pm. My classes are in the West and Downtown campuses of Pima Community College.

Safety, trust & environment
I will follow any rules outlined by the client. I will check for any allergies or intolerances the animal(s) may have before giving any treats. I offer mental stimulation in many forms, including training, snuffle mats, lick mats, and sniff-n-search for toys or treats.
Information Amber S. would like to know about your pet
It is very important that I know the animal's diet, including what type of food they eat, how much they eat, and when they eat. I understand that some of our scaly friends don't need to eat as often, and can keep an eye on water dishes, and humidity levels. It is also extremely important that I know how your animal responds to others, both animals and humans. If your pet is nervous around strangers or in new situations, feel free to let me know! I will make sure to keep them out of situations where they feel uncomfortable, and do my very best to make them comfortable if we MUST be in uncomfortable situations.
A typical day
I enjoy keeping the animals under my care entertained. I have lick mats that help with anxiety, as the act of licking actually releases endorphins that help them to feel calmer. I am happy to play tug or throw a toy for as long as the dog wants. I really enjoy playing with cats, especially with a flirt pole. Seeing them use their hunting instincts is always fascinating to me. I always try to keep high quality treats around, and I try to keep some on me with a treat pouch. If treats are allowed, they will definitely get a few! I'll make sure to keep it within a reasonable amount so no one gets sick.

Providing Peace for Pets & Pawrents
Pet care experience
Hi! My legal name is Amber, but I prefer Ash, and that's how most people know me. I am very excited to meet you and your pets! A little bit about me first, so you can see if I would be a good fit. I am twenty-four years old, and a business student at Pima. I have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 11:30am-3:30pm. I then have some time before my 1 hour evening class, which starts at 5pm. I also work part-time (no more than 30 hours a week) at a doggy daycare and boarding kennel by Harrison and Irvington. If you are uncomfortable with your pet being left alone for longer than 6-7 hours, please let me know, and we can attempt to work something out. My goal is to curate an environment that allows both you, as the owner(s), and your pet(s) to be comfortable during your trip. Background & Experience: I have owned a wide variety of animals throughout my life. I have owned large dogs, small dogs, and cats. Also, I have had the pleasure of rescuing an albino corn snake and a bearded dragon, who are both doing really well. Currently, I have a 20 gallon fish tank, but my mom used to have a huge tank for two Tiger Oscars that I would help take care of. My family always took the best care of our animals for as long as we could keep them comfortable, and as a result of that, I have experience with administering medications to all manner of animals. I even helped my grandparents deliver medication to a horse once! I have grown up having critters around me all the time, and have begun chasing my passion in dog training and animal care earnestly in the last year or so. Even though I have owned and cared for animals my entire life, I am still learning a ton from this job at the doggy daycare. Since April 2025, I have been working at a boarding kennel and doggy daycare. This job has taught me the importance of taking notes and logging things like feeding and potty habits. The job usually has me scheduled from 6am to 12pm on the days that I do not have school. Please reach out and message me if you have any questions, or would like to set up a meet and greet!

Reviews

I know I'm the outlier among Ash's reviews. I read all of them before hiring her and was encouraged. I also know many people simply choose not to leave a review rather than say anything negative. Although I don't enjoy writing this, I feel it's important to share my experience honestly. On the positive side, Ash came for a walk-through that included walking my dog, left my house very clean, communicated promptly when there was a problem, and came back from work to check on my dog after he became sick. I appreciated those things very much. Unfortunately, my overall experience was not entirely satisfactory. The first morning I was gone, she allowed my dog to get into things in the yard, even though I emphasized during the walk-through and again in writing that he is a "yard hoo-ver" who will eat patio debris, cat poop, and anything else he can find unless he is watched very carefully and redirected. She told me she "couldn't stop him" and "couldn't get him back in the house." After that, I told her to take him out only on leash. After breakfast that morning he threw up. He also threw up the following morning, which is why she came back after leaving for work. I genuinely appreciated that she returned. However, preventing him from eating things outdoors was one of the primary responsibilities I discussed ahead of time. Other sitters have been able to manage this, and I spent considerable time explaining both his behavior and ways to prevent it. What concerned me most overall was a lack of attention to detail. During the walk-through, Ash spent much of the time talking about herself, her pets, work, school, her ranch, and other topics, without asking many questions about Beaux. I prefer a new sitter to be very curious about and focused on my dog's routines, habits, and needs, and I often found myself steering the conversation back to him. I let that go because her written communication seemed attentive, and her reviews were so positive. Unfortunate-ly, my instincts turned out to matter. I leave every sitter three pages of written instructions and ask them to read them carefully. One instruction was that if Beaux became nauseated, we could CONSIDER using Cerenia—but to call me first so we could decide together. I had already shown her where it was. When he became sick, she gave what she believed was Cerenia without calling me, even though the instructions specifically said to call first. Moreover, when I returned home, I discovered she had actually given him Benadryl instead. The Benadryl blister pack was sitting on the counter, and the Cerenia had not been touched. While that explained why he seemed unusually lethargic when I got home, it also left me feeling that I could not trust her attention to detail. She also told me that when she later let him outside she "made sure he didn't eat anything" and had “even picked debris off his lips.” My thought was that if there was debris on his lips, he had already been trying to eat things. Somehow he continued to get past her supervision despite this being the primary issue we had discussed. I was also surprised that after I arrived home, she never followed up to ask how he was doing. Even if his illness had been completely unrelated to her care, I would have expected a sitter to check in afterward out of concern. I also found that my front door key had been hidden under rocks on the front yard (she didn't mention this, I just happened to find it) and that the back screen door was off the track. I don't know how to reconcile my experience with Ash's many positive reviews, but this was mine. She is a kind young woman who clearly loves animals, and I totally wish her well. I simply need someone who is extremely detail-oriented and proactive, especially with my sneaky little guy, and unfortunately this was not the right fit for us.

Amber/Ash was fantastic with my cats. She connected with them easily, kept their schedule, and was respectful and kind with all of us. They were clearly content and yet happy to see me when I returned. She was flexible when I decided to return a day earlier than planned and was responsive on the app when texting her. I'd have her back anytime!
Leaving my pup for 3 weeks is so hard but knowing that Ash is taking care of her makes it easier. She sends lots of pictures and provides updates. My pup and even my house are always in great shape when I return. Thanks again!!
Ash is always a great sitter and my dog loves her. Thank you!!!
