I currently am a full time Pet Sitter. Prior to this change I was a Case Manager Supervisor in elder care and before that under DDS. At this time I love the change in my role and the responsibilities of taking care of the furry family members. In my previous days of managing group homes under DDS my world revolved around taking care of my consumers. Now, I am entrusted with peoples furry family members. My day is spent walking up to 5 miles a day, doing many litter box changes, playing alot of ball, and doing alot of hiking. I am seeing anywhere between 3-8 dogs a day and usually a few kitties in between and I Love It. When I have overnights, you house becomes my home base, I move my things in, spend my evenings cuddling with your furry creatures (large or small) and making sure they are all set in the morning.

Safety, trust & environment
I am fully insured with professional pet care insurance which covers bites, injuries, property damage, lost keys, and many other things. I do not plan to bring any dogs to my house. I all care at the dogs home. I will follow the owners wishes including walking, feeding, medication and if there is overnights needed or daytime drop ins. I love playtimes and view them as important timeframes especially for dogs who are crated or who need to go back into a crate and I will spend a good amount of energy getting into playtime. I will really get into a game of “keep away” or catch , or tug of war. Whatever your pups favorite game is. Exercise is a very important part of a dogs mental and physical health, getting that energy out in productive ways creates a much happier pup. For kitties, its more cuddling or string play. Depends on the type of cat if they need time to warm up to me or are social butterfly. I read each animal's body language and let them lead the visit. Understanding pets body language is very important as its one of the very few ways they can communicate and it is our responsibility to read it as effectively as we can.
Information Amber H. would like to know about your pet
Behaviors or reactivities, any bite history, if they pull or lunge while walking or are reactive to other dogs/animals/people/ cars or anything of that nature. If your dog would be fearful of me walking into your home without you present. I have no problem with any of the things listed above, but full transparency works best to help discuss the best way to provide care for your pup so they get the best out of it. With some of the things listed it might take a few visits with you present to build up trust first before entering alone and leashing dog to ensure comfort for your pet. Once trust has been established it helps to ensure that our activities move forward walks, drop ins, overnights ect, would all be smooth sailing as once I can safely enter and leash your pup we can continue working on understanding each other from there while outside walking and doing fun activities with lots and lots of high value rewards
A typical day
Keep away is a classic game most dogs love, I am also pretty good at losing too tug of war and then giving the dog a good chase, catch is a wonderful game as well. Sometimes we just want a nice butt scratch/ belly rub. I have a great time playing with my pups and am sure I would have a great time playing with yours. Another great activity to get to feel each other out is a nice walk/hike. If you have a local trail, I have seat belt dog buckles in my car and can take them to the trail if its near by and we can do some sniffing and exploring (on leash). Or if its a good area to walk near the home we can walk there as well with lots of verbal praise and trust building between me and the dog.

Pet care experience
I have taken care of all three of my dogs since puppies and they are all at different stages of life. We love playing ball, going for walks and taking car rides. I have a senior dog right now who does have senility and seizures who requires medication for arthritis. I have a middle aged border collie who has anxiety issues that has been seen by a behaviorist and it’s a biological issue and she will never grow out of it so we have developed a behavior plan and since then she is more confident and happy. She does require a special way of dealing with her, as do all anxious dogs and I am able to recognize that in other dogs as well and during my time as a case manager I have been able to use that skill to sooth other peoples pets. The amount of times I have been told “wow she/he never lets anyone pet her” is too many to count. I also have experience with dogs that have gone through a trauma and have minor aggression. I have no problems working with dogs like that as long as I know ahead of time and what there triggers or behaviors are. I have crate trained all 3 of my dogs and also do positive rewards as well.

Reviews

Amber took super good care of my cat and bunny while we were away!! A+!
Amber H. cancelled a booking 1 day before it was scheduled to begin.

Yesterday was my first drop in visit with Amber. She exceeded my expectations of when I first discovered this app. She was amazing with my dog, Millie, who can have tricky behavior/ hard time trusting new people. She has great communication about her services and her report was detailed. Millie and I are excited to have Amber back for more drop in’s!

Amber is very responsive and great with my dog Gus! Would highly recommend.
