Biologist... Walk Artist? 🐾

I have 20+ years of experience living with and caring for dogs, 10+ for cats, and 1-2 for birds/fish. I have a degree in Molecular Genetics and spent two years in a lab researching animal "environmental enrichment," providing me with advanced understanding of animal behavior, development, and nutrition/metabolism. I stick to positive science-based principles for keeping my own dog (an 8 y/o pom mutt) happy and healthy, and will do the same for your best friend(s)!

House Sitting • Jul 23, 2026

TLDR: Amber took great care of our dog Ginger for one week while we were out of town for vacation, and I would 1000% recommend her! I reached out to Amber with a last-minute request to dog-sit in our home for one week while we were out of town. She responded quickly and set up a meet-and-greet to make sure that it would be a good fit. She asked many insightful questions that reflected her experience with animal training and care, as well as her desire to be the best dog sitter possible. Our dog instantly took to her during the meet-and-greet, which isn't always a given. Ginger is an anxious, stubborn terrier who takes daily medication. Amber administered daily medication with no issue and sent very thorough and heartwarming daily updates on Ginger's walks, potty habits, food intake, and medication. Amber was a great house guest and left our place very tidy after her one-week stay. She is a fantastic sitter, and I would recommend her to anyone, and we will definitely be booking with her again!

Dog Walking • Aug 24, 2023

Amber is great with my 2 dogs! She takes the time to take them on long walks and even stops at the dog park along the way. Will definitely be using her often!

Schedule

I'm currently between jobs, so my schedule is very flexible. I share custody of my own dog with an ex, so the more advanced notice you contact me with, the more likely I can arrange for your boarding and pet-sitting needs to be on an off-period! However, him being home doesn't affect my walking/home visit schedule.

Safety, trust & environment

Currently available to help in the client's home, ranging from drop-ins and walks to full-day sitting to overnighters. Training and bathing/nail trims may also be on the table, as well as boarding in my house once I've met them. All people and pets in my home are 100% up to date on vaccines, including for COVID, so I won't be bringing any microscopic surprises with me.

Pets

A typical day

Whether it's play style, petting location, or walk duration/direction, most pets will visibly let you know what their preferences are. So as long as they keep behaving politely, I'll typically follow their lead on activities! Keeping small training treats around for regular reinforcement (without the worry of adding too many calories) will set your pet up for success (even after my watch has ended). For a small surcharge, I'm also open to driving your dog to a dog park or busy park (like Goodale) if they do well near other strangers on their first few walks.

Let me know everything you can think of regarding their needs, temperament, and areas for improvement. For example, are they fine with being picked up? Do they get aggressive if approached while eating? Are they sensitive to certain noises or movement? Do they have guilty pleasure snacks (shoes, couch cushions, trash can contents, etc)?
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
