Amanda can care for
Availability
As an Occasional Teacher with a flexible schedule, I have a lot of flexibility during the week to provide pet care. I can plan my teaching schedule around my pet-care commitments and am available for walks, drop-in visits, day sitting, and overnight house sitting. My goal is to gradually transition into pet care as my full-time career, so I’m excited to build lasting relationships with dogs and their families. I’m reliable, organized, and happy to work with each dog’s individual routine and needs.

Safety, trust & environment
I treat every client’s home with the same care and respect I would want for my own. Before the stay, I make sure I understand the owner’s instructions and their dog’s daily routine, including feeding, walks, medication, playtime, and any specific needs. I follow the household rules and make sure doors, gates, and other potential safety concerns are secure. I’m attentive to how the dog is doing throughout the day and will contact the owner promptly if I notice anything unusual or have any concerns. I’m also happy to provide regular updates and photos by text, phone, or email so owners can relax knowing their dog and home are being well cared for while they’re away.
Information Amanda Y. would like to know about your pet
Before caring for a pet, I like to understand their individual personality, routine, preferences, and needs. Some important things I would want to know include: * Does your pet have any medical or special needs, allergies, or medications? * What does your pet enjoy, and what do they dislike or find uncomfortable? * Are there any fears, triggers, sensitivities, or behaviours I should be aware of? * How do they respond to new people and other dogs? * How are they on leash, and are there any walking or safety concerns? * Are there any behaviours I should monitor or keep a log of? * What are their normal eating, sleeping, bathroom, exercise, and play routines? * Are there any commands, boundaries, or house rules you would like me to follow? I also want to know what helps your pet feel safe and comfortable, so I can make their time with me as positive and stress-free as possible.
A typical day
I love to keep dogs both mentally and physically stimulated. Dogs can really enjoy exploring new routes and experiencing new sights and smells, which can keep their walks interesting and engaging. Depending on the dog’s personality and energy level, we might go for a walk, play fetch, practice tricks or commands, enjoy some enrichment activities, or simply have lots of cuddle and belly-rub time! Of course, every dog is different, so I will always follow the owner’s instructions and their dog’s usual routine, including their preferred activities, exercise level, and boundaries. My goal is for each dog to have a fun, safe, and enjoyable day while their owner is away.

Pet care experience
I love caring for dogs because they bring so much joy to our lives and each one has their own unique personality, routine, and needs. My goal is to make every dog in my care feel safe, comfortable, happy, and well cared for while you’re away. I have 16 years of experience caring for my family dog, Oscar, a Cockapoo who lived to 17 years old. Caring for him throughout his senior years taught me the importance of patience, attentiveness, consistency, and adapting care to a dog’s changing needs. In 2022, I fostered a 2-year-old Northern dog for four months. He weighed approximately 70 lbs, which gave me valuable experience handling and walking a medium-to-large dog and learning how to work with a dog with a different background and temperament. I currently live with Maxine, my 5-year-old Mini Goldendoodle, and I understand how important it is to trust someone with your dog and their daily routine. I’m comfortable with feeding, walking, playtime, administering medication, and providing attentive care for small, medium, and medium-to-large dogs. I offer dog walking, drop-in visits, daycare/house sitting, and overnight house sitting in your home. I’m happy to follow your dog’s usual routine and provide regular updates so you can feel comfortable knowing they’re doing well while you’re away. I’m generally available with one day’s notice when possible, and I’m happy to discuss shorter-notice requests depending on my availability.
Reviews
Amanda is a true animal lover! She has had at least one pet at any given time in her life (sometimes multiples!) whether it was a dog, cat, rabbit, hamster, guinea pig, or fish. She loves everyone's pets as her own and extends the same love, affection, and care to all of them. Amanda's priority is to ensure animals are happy and thriving!
