Safety, trust & environment

I am always looking to follow the owners’ preferences when in their home. If I have any questions, I will always reach out, whether it is about their feeding schedule or how to use a certain harness or leash. I am a stickler for double checking everything, so I always make sure the doors are locked, crates are secured, stoves are off if I’ve passed by them, etc. Safety is a top priority.

Information Amanda W. would like to know about your pet

I always want to know what the owner's priorities are when dog walking or stopping by to check on their pets. What is the dog's personality like (friendly or stand-offish)? Does the pet need to be fed? Are treats allowed? Would they rather go for a walk or have some indoor playtime? Do they bite or have triggers? Do they wear a harness? What is the dog temperament when entering the home and greeting a dog walker? Are there any allergies? With all these questions, I always reach out to the owner ahead of time to try and gauge the situation beforehand and provide a flawless experience.

A typical day

When walking a dog, I listen to their intuition on where they want to walk and what they want to see. In my experience, the dog almost always leads me back to their house without a problem. On a typical day of dog sitting, my guest-pup and I will take some walks around the neighborhood which offer plenty to see and sniff! If the weather is nice, we can head to the local park or stop by the stream if trails allow for it.

Professional petter; dog enthusiast

Pet care experience

I grew up with two labrador retrievers who made for some hilarious and crazy memories. Pets are such a special part of the household and, because of this, my friends know me as one of the biggest dog lovers. I have helped dog-sit several family and friends' pets in recent years when they have obligations or go on vacation. In our house, we've had visitors ranging everywhere from frenchies to dachshunds to lab mixes. They know they are allowed on the furniture and are in for lots of rubs and play time when they come to our home. As of 2022, I regularly walk dogs and have a few regular clients who consider me their preferred walker in the area. While I am slightly allergic to cats, it does not stop me from trying to get on their good side. I regularly do check-ins and visits on cats as well. My schedule is hybrid (half in office/half at home) and I am always looking to get in extra steps and walk dogs around the town. My flexibility allows for some last minute requests and daycare during the work week. I have experiencing walking small and large dogs and always make sure they are properly harnessed before heading out. Out of precaution, I tend to avoid other dogs while taking walks around the neighborhood, or before heading into a dog park. I always check in with the owner before, during, and after a visit to make sure their needs are met and let them know that their pet is safe and comfortably back at home. If I am boarding a dog, I will not have any other pets boarded unless requested.

Amanda was amazing. We just got a new kitten where she watched our other cat in the past. She wanted to come over before the trip to make sure she knew how they were getting along and the routine. Amanda was on time with the visits and we really appreciated her reaching out for questions we didn’t cover and double checking on the room temperatures to make sure our little ones were comfortable and happy. She’s a very thoughtful and caring cat sitter. That meant a lot coming home to our cats who were very relaxed and not stressed from us leaving for a week.
