Amanda can care for
Availability
I'm enrolled in a vet tech program that starts in August. I will have classes from 8 AM to 12 PM. I also work in the evenings; my shifts can range from 4 to 10 hours long. I'm often able to adjust or swap shifts if needed, if given enough notice. I'm happy to communicate clearly about timing so you always know exactly when your pet will be cared for.

Safety, trust & environment
I truly believe most pets feel safest and happiest in their own home environment. That's why I'm more than willing to travel to you. Keeping your pet in their familiar space helps reduce stress and makes your time away easier on them. I prioritize keeping your pet's normal routine as close to normal as possible. Whether that's specific feeding times, walk schedules, crate routines, medication, or just their preferred nap spot, I'm happy to follow your instructions carefully. Consistency is key to keeping pets calm and comfortable. I'm also flexible with early mornings, late nights, and unique schedules; whatever keeps your pup feeling secure and cared for. Communication is incredibly important to me. You can expect plenty of photos, updates, and check-ins so you always know how your pet is doing. My goal is for you to feel completely confident and at ease while you are away.
Information Amanda S. would like to know about your pet
The more I know, the better I can care for your pet! I always encourage owners to share anything they think is important. No detail is too small. Please let me know things like: - Feeding schedules and dietary restrictions - Medication or health concerns - Veterinarian contact information - How your dog behaves on walks (pulling, reactive, easily startled, etc.) - Any triggers to things such as bikes, cars, other dogs, strangers, or loud noises - If they're escape artists, counter surfers, or especially clever problem-solvers Understanding these details ahead of time allows me to prepare properly and keep everyone safe, calm, and comfortable. And of course, don't forget the funny little quirks. The weird sleeping positions, the dramatic sighs, the obsession with one specific toy. Those details help me connect with your pet and care for them in a way that feels familiar and personal. My goal is always to step into your routine as seamlessly as possible so your pet feels secure and you feel completely at ease.
A typical day
Weather permitting, I love incorporating outdoor time into the day. I aim for at least two walks daily, intentionally choosing quieter times to avoid busy sidewalks and overstimulation. Your dog's safety is my top priority. I do not allow on-leash greetings with unfamiliar dogs or people to minimize any risk and keep every outing calm and controlled. My main goal is to reduce any stress that can come from having someone new in your pet's space. I focus on creating a relaxed, predictable environment and matching your dog's normal routine as closely as possible. In addition to walks, I love incorporating enrichment into the day. This might include sniff-focused decompression walks, scatter feeding, or using treat-dispensing toys with their regular meals. Mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise, and enrichment activities and training can help build confidence and promote calm behavior. At the end of the day, I want your pet to feel safe, fulfilled, and completely comfortable, even with a different human in charge.

Pet care experience
Animals have always been at the center of my world. I grew up surrounded by dogs, cats, fish, and just about every critter you can imagine, which naturally led me towards pursuing the veterinary field. Caring for animals isn't just something I do; it's something I genuinely love. While I'm in school, pet sitting allows me to combine my passion with hands-on experience. When you book with me, you're not just getting someone to stop by; you're getting someone who is attentive, knowledgeable, and truly invested in your pet's health, happiness, and routine. I understand how important it is to trust the person caring for your animal, and I take that responsibility seriously. I'm also a volunteer dog walker and foster through MADACC, where I work with dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and backgrounds. From high-energy goofballs to nervous, shut-down pups, I've seen it all. This experience has given me a strong ability to read canine body language, adapt to different personalities, and help stressed dogs feel safe and supported. As a foster, I specialize in helping dogs decompress, build confidence, and thrive, all skills that directly translate to excellent pet care in your home. Whether your dogs need structured walks, playtime to burn energy, or calm reassurance while you're away, I've got it covered. Please note: due to allergies, I'm unable to provide overnight care for cats. However, I am more than happy to offer drop-in visits to ensure they are fed, comfortable, and doing well. I would love the opportunity to care for your pets like they're my own.
Reviews
Amanda was wonderful. This was the first time we traveled without our puppy and we were a bit apprehensive. However, Amanda eased our concerns. She arrived a few minutes early which signaled a level of reliability that was very welcome. While we were away, Amanda provided regular updates and pictures. As a result, we were able to enjoy our vacation. And our puppy seemed to genuinely enjoy Amanda. We will definitely use Amanda again. We would feel very comfortable leaving our puppy with her.

Amanda has been helping us since we first got our puppy last November. She has been GREAT with her. Communicative, flexible, and caring are just a few words that describe Amanda! Couldn't have asked for better help.

Amanda is great with my dogs and is super flexible which is so helpful. We have been using her for months and have loved having her watch them!!

She's been visiting our puppy Pam since we got her in November last year! Still so great with her
