Pet care experience

Friendly and experienced with reactive rescue dogs

Hi All, I am primarily a dog trainer now, but I also cover last minute walks and visits for all pets. I am experienced and competent with all animals especially dogs, and I have extensive veterinary knowledge as I also rehab wild birds. I use primarily modern reinforcement based techniques in my training and interactions with animals, and I am a great believer in developing relationships based on trust, clarity and fairness. I am firm when needed but very level headed and kind, animal welfare comes first and I'm always armed with good treats!

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

The dogs come first always, their safety and happiness is key. I do try to keep things clean when it comes to paw prints and fur, and I am very vigilant about doors and potential escapes etc. I can be trusted absolutely and I am professional in that I do not pry into my customers lives or talk about them outside of the normal happy dog stuff. I share pictures with you directly and I do post pics on social media but I am pretty sensible, it's mostly just fun dog walks or close ups of cute dogs. I really value being trusted with your pets and homes, so you can always tell me if you don't like social media pics or you have particular worries!

Amanda was excellent. This was the first time we had used a dig sitter and she was excellent. The dogs were well looked after and we achieved what we wanted with Amanda's help. We will certainly use her again.

Amanda was lovely with our boys as always - they get lots of long walks and snuggles, just what they enjoy best! They always hate to say goodbye to her 💖

Amanda and her family took our noisy little sausage dogs in their stride, and they clearly had a wonderful time with her. We are most grateful, and would always be happy to entrust them to her care.

Amanda did a great job of looking after our little rescue dog who we left with her for a week. It was the first time we'd left her & after a few practise walks & evenings for familiarisation we were very happy that she would settle. Amanda has lots of experience with dogs & was good at understanding what she needed. She even managed some good recall so she could have a play off lead. We also came back to a clean & tidy house which was great! Would high recommend!

I ended our arrangement early because we believed we were not getting the service that we expected. This included; 1) Not communicating about having boyfriend stay all weekend 2) No evidence of more than one short walk 3) leaving my puppy downstairs until after 10am on both mornings without the chance to go outside. Whilst my puppy is well, this experience has not been a good one for us and leaves us reluctant to trust anyone moving forward.

I have a huntaway x collie who is 4, and a rottie x collie foster dog who is 3. They have both been behavioural modification projects for me to work on my training skills and they are both great dogs with a few quirks! They are both dog friendly and suitable for mixing with clients dogs. Pet care is my main business and wildlife rehab takes place around that, mostly in the summer fledgling season. Animals are central to everything!

Please let me know of any habits or behavioural quirks, e.g reactive with other dogs, traffic, people, cats and prey animals. If you are looking for reactivity training help then let me know what you are hoping for, and if you're just hoping for someone to take your dog for a toilet break without anything stressful happening I understand that too. I am very happy to do multiple meet and greets for nervous or sensitive dogs.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
