Pet care experience

Home away from home for your babies

I have always had dogs and have hade a wide variety of breeds throughout my life. I have always loved animals in general but especially dogs. I am that person who will find the dog at a party and spend my entire time loving on him/her. I have a decent sized fenced in back yard. I keep my dogs inside most of the day unless they want to be outside. Food and water is always available to them! My children are very well manadered with dogs and enjoy throwing the ball for them to play fetch or digging in our sand box with them. I have experience with special needs dogs and giving injections. I am a former vet tech as well.

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

When I’m caring for your pets in your home, their safety and comfort are always my top priorities. With my background as a former veterinary technician, I tend to be a little more cautious and attentive to pet safety standards—because even small details can make a big difference. For example, during the hotter months, I limit outdoor time for dogs unless they are outdoor-only pets. I’m happy to take them on short walks to do their business, but I avoid long walks in the heat, as hot pavement can burn their paws and extreme temperatures can quickly exhaust them—especially if they aren’t used to extended outdoor time. In cooler weather, I’m more than happy to extend walks or spend extra time playing outside if they enjoy it. Before I leave any visit, I always double-check that your pet’s space is secure and safe—whether that’s ensuring gates are latched, food and water are topped off, or checking that the environment is calm and comfortable. You can trust that your pet will be in caring, responsible hands every time I visit.

Amanda is great with watching my two cats. This is the second time we have had her. She takes great care of them while we are out of town and I don’t worry about them as I know they are in great hands. She is very reliable and responsible.

Schedule

I’m a stay-at-home mom with two school-aged children, which allows me the flexibility to offer consistent and attentive care for your pets. I share my home with two senior dogs and a young cat, so I fully understand the unique needs that come with different ages and personalities. My availability is open throughout most of the day, with the only exceptions being school drop-off and pick-up times. I usually have childcare available, so schedule flexibility is rarely an issue. If anything ever comes up that requires a change during a visit, I will always reach out and communicate with you in advance. While it’s very rare, if I absolutely must bring my children during a visit, it would only be under extreme circumstances—and never without your permission. I prioritize your pet’s comfort and well-being and do everything I can to ensure a calm, stress-free experience during every visit.

To provide the best possible care, I like to gather as much information as I can about your pet ahead of time. I prefer to schedule at least one meet and greet—especially with dogs—before the first drop-in visit, though I understand this isn’t always possible. The more I know upfront, the better I can tailor my care to meet your pet’s unique needs and make them feel as safe and comfortable as possible. I always appreciate being told about any medications, special needs, or behavioral quirks—even something as simple as barking or jumping when I enter the home. These behaviors don’t bother me at all, but being prepared helps me avoid startling your pet and allows me to respond in a calm, confident manner. My goal is to earn their trust, not overwhelm them. I also like to know your pet’s routine: when they typically eat, when they go outside for potty breaks, if they’re crated at certain times, or any household rules you’d like me to follow. Truly, there’s no such thing as too much information when it comes to your pet’s comfort and safety. I’m experienced with all breeds and understand that behavior is shaped by individual experiences—not by breed stereotypes. I never make assumptions, and I treat every animal with respect and patience. However, I do have one firm boundary: I will not accept bookings where dogs are kept outside on a lead or chain unattended. I absolutely understand if your pet needs to be on a lead for bathroom breaks—especially if they’re escape artists (I’ve had a fence-jumper myself!)—but I will never leave a dog tied up outside alone under any circumstances. Their safety and well-being always come first.
