Pet care experience

Loving and Attentive Pet Care!

I’ve been caring for animals since I was 14, and it’s truly second nature to me. From playful puppies and curious kittens to senior pets needing a gentle touch, I have experience with animals at every stage of life. I’m experienced in basic puppy training, including leash manners, crate comfort, and establishing routines. I’ve also raised and cared for cats, dogs, and even a 4-week-old kitten who’s still with me 10 years later. I also spent my high school years working on a farm, which gave me hands-on experience with a wide variety of animals—dogs, cats, lizards, fish, chickens, sheep, cows, pigs, goats, and horses. That background taught me how to stay calm, attentive, and adaptable in any situation. I also have experience administering medications—pills, liquids, and topicals—and am trained in pet first aid, giving me the confidence to handle unexpected situations calmly and effectively. With my medical background as a full-time nurse and my lifelong love of animals, I provide thoughtful, dependable care you can trust. Throughout high school and college, I was regularly trusted to house sit and care for pets while families were away—something I take great pride in. Today, I share my life with a dog, a cat, and a horse of my own, so I understand just how much your pets mean to you. Whether your pet needs active playtime, patient care, or just a calm, comforting presence, I’m here to provide the same love and attention I give my own.

Schedule

I’m a full-time registered nurse at the University of Maryland Medical Center, working three 12-hour shifts per week. This schedule gives me several days off in between, which I dedicate to pet care—perfect for drop-in visits, walks, and weekend boarding. For boarding, my husband Kevin and I provide care in our home. With our combined schedules, your pet will rarely be left alone. Kevin also has years of experience with animals and dog training, so your pet will be in capable, caring hands with both of us. We treat every pet like part of our family and are committed to making them feel safe, happy, and loved during their stay.

Safety, trust & environment

In My Home: Your pet will enjoy a safe, fun, and loving environment! I have a fenced-in yard where they can play freely with my friendly, playful dog. On hot days, there’s a shallow kiddie pool for splashing fun—and while we do have a larger pool, it’s securely fenced off for safety. Whether your dog prefers lounging or playing, they’ll have the space and freedom to feel at home. Dogs are welcome on the couch and bed, and I’m happy to follow any crate or sleep routines you request. I treat each pet like one of my own—comfortable, happy, and cared for. In Your Home: I’m respectful of your space and always leave things clean and as I found them. I make sure your pet is safe, secure, and happy—whether it’s feeding, playtime, walks, or just companionship. I always leash dogs before heading out, and I pay close attention to your pet’s routine, preferences, and safety while you’re away.

Pets

A typical day

Every pet is different, so I love tailoring activities to match their energy and personality! For dogs, that often means fun walks, playtime with toys, training sessions (especially for puppies), and plenty of snuggles. I’m happy to reinforce basic commands, keep them mentally stimulated, and make sure they feel loved and engaged. For lower-energy pets or senior animals, I’m all about gentle attention, slow-paced strolls (if needed), and comforting companionship. Whether it’s fetch in the yard, puzzle toys, or a cozy cuddle on the couch—I’m here to keep tails wagging and whiskers twitching!

I like to get to know each pet’s routine and personality so I can give them the best care possible! It’s helpful to know: • Energy level – Are they playful and high-energy, or more laid-back? • Preferences – Favorite toys, walking pace, or special routines • Allergies or medical needs – Including any medications • House rules – Are they allowed on the couch or bed? • Training cues – Let me know what you’re working on so I can help reinforce your progress • Social behavior – How they do with other animals or new people The more I know, the better I can make your pet feel comfortable, safe, and happy while you’re away!
