Pet care experience

Work from home Counselor and Coach

I grew up in a family that cared for dogs, cats, pigs, guinea hens, goats, rabbits, pigs, and even a peacock at one time! So, I have a lot of experience loving and caring for animals of all types. While I grew up with a range of animals and love them all dearly, I am currently available to watch dogs only, as my husband is allergic to cats. Please reach out if you have another type of animal that you think would do well in our household. Overall, my husband and I have experienced how nice it is to secure a professional connection with a dog-sitter that we know is caring for our pet at a level that we expect. We hope that we can be that for you and your dog! We are very professional and responsible humans that put the needs of our pet-children and other's pet children first, and look forward to helping you out in your time of need.

Amanda and Josh were so wonderful with our dog, and their dog Rosie is such a great playmate! I received lots of updates. Amanda was in tune to my dog’s personality and activity needs, taking plenty of walks, and giving all the snuggles and support while we were away.

Amanda was so great. Jack was like a dearly loved foster brother to her dog Rosie and I was able to relax on vacation without worries about him.

Amanda is amazing. She’s so easy to work with and always takes the best care of my furbaby. She’s very active, so I always know my dog is getting plenty of exercise and attention, not just the basics. I have peace of mind when my dog is with her, and it’s a no-brainer to call Amanda anytime I need a pet sitter. Highly recommend!

Safety, trust & environment

We live in a 4 bedroom home with a yard in Troutdale. We also exercise doggos via walks/hikes/runs and excursions to the dog park. We have an energetic 4 year old dog who is very social and active. She grew up with a hound dog brother that passed away last year, so loves having a friend around. While she is a medium sized dog (25-30 lbs), she does well with friendly dogs of all sizes and loves being their little side-kick or wrestling partner. She responds well to a range of fellow-dog temperaments, leaving them alone when they ask or playing non-stop with them if they have some extra energy.

A typical day

I work from home and let the animals out for breaks and walks throughout the day. I run in the mornings, so if you're dog likes runs I'll likely bring them along for part or all of the run. In the evenings we may do a long walk after dinner, head to the dog park, river, or creek; and on the weekends we like heading to the Lewis & Clark dog park or going on longer hikes.

Please let me know your dogs needs, joys, and limitations beforehand. I'm very flexible regarding different levels of activity needs, and am very active myself, so will let your dog tag along or stay home in front of the fire depending on your desires. If your dog has a lot of energy, that's no problem and I love helping dogs get plenty of exercise in their day! Because I am working during the day, puppies who need very frequent breaks, dogs not yet fully potty trained, or puppers having difficulties due to aging may not be the best fit because I could have meetings that can last up to 3 hours. I'm so sorry that I can't help out with these wonderful dogs with additional needs, as I love them, but I want to be honest about what I can provide. Lastly, because our pooch Rosie is a smaller sized dog, extra large dogs that are super playful: we love you and so does Rosie! But because of size, it leads to her potentially getting hurt. So, large dogs who play gently with smaller dogs are absolutely welcome and we have many dog friends in the larger range! Rosie is a solid little sausage and holds her own pretty well when playing with dogs of all sizes, she listens when other dogs tell her they don't want to play, and she typically doesn't try to play with other smaller dogs (which is interesting!). We mostly worry about her lack of ability to say no to play time when her opponent is 5x+ her size. So please let us know if your dog is on the larger end and if you anticipate any concerns or things to keep an eye out for when watching your fur baby.
