I've had cats all my life and these days, I hang out with a lil tabby dude called Gus. By day, I'm a freelance writer and Gus thinks he's my assistant (if you can call walking across my keyboard assistance). We also have a cat called Eva but she only has eyes for my daughter. I think cats are great teachers when it comes to consent. So I'm happy to cuddle a cat if they're willing but I'm also happy to respect a cat's autonomy if they're the standoffish kind. They know what they want - and sometimes that's just a bowl of food and a head tickle. I've nursed old cats in their final days, welcomed new kittens into the world and taken care of cats after surgery and illness. I believe every cat has a very unique personality and it's only by tuning in to them that you find out what it is. I'm happy to be a surrogate carer for your little one.
