I was 9 years old when I first experienced what it was like to be responsible for a dog, he was a small mixed breed. I cared for him like a doting mother. Many years after my first furry companion, I brought home a Lab mix and that’s when I experienced a different kind of responsibility. It was long after bringing him home that I found out he had epilepsy and I quickly learned what to do in difficult situations. Following my two childhood pals came many different furry friends from rabbits, cats, many different breeds of dogs, horses and chickens. All with their own unique personalities.
