I have two cats at who are cautious of other animals, so I'm happy to care for your pet in your home! I'd love to learn about your pet's routine and preferences to provide them the best care possible.
Information Amanda C. would like to know about your pet
I work best with cats of all sizes, plus dogs ranging from small to large. I have years of shelter and pet care experience under my belt, and understand that every animal has a unique set of needs and wants. Let's talk about what's best for your pet so I can make sure they're as comfortable as possible in your absence!
A typical day
I enjoy walks, both long and short, and would love to bring your pup along! Many dogs love playing fetch or tug-of-war, so I'm happy to play along. If you have cats, I have a lot of fun using toys to create exciting sounds and movements to engage their senses. Petting can be a great stress release for both humans and animals, but if your pet prefers space I completely respect that! Either way, if you're okay with your pet having treats, I love to reward good behavior and cuteness.

Pet care experience
My background in canine care began at the Little Shelter Animal Adoption Center in Huntington, NY in 2008. I was employed there for several years as a dog walker and socializer, working with a wide variety of dogs and puppies from many different walks of life. All of the dogs were rescues, and so special care needed to be provided, with exercise, playtime, feeding, and even medication distribution. After working at the shelter, I found myself at a few local grooming parlors, working as a bather. As you've probably experienced, most dogs do not love being bathed and groomed, and so I would try my very best to make them comfortable in the unfamiliar situation they were in, taking the time to check in on them frequently and give them lots of reassurance and loving. Patience goes a long way! In January of 2015 I had my first two-month long house and pet sitting job. However, since then I've been working a full time office job and have been unable to enjoy much time with canine companions. I will regularly pet sit for close friends and family, but I'm ready to spend more time around furry friends! I'd love to meet you and your pup and ensure that they're properly taken care of and loved while you're out on the weekend, working, or away on vacation!

Reviews
Amanda is the only other person I'd trust my cat, Bear to. She is incredibly responsible and treats my cat as her own. She is gentle, kind, caring, and smart, especially when it comes to animal care. I know anytime I'm traveling I can completely trust that my Bear is in good hands. She makes sure to take the time to help make Bear feel loved and she gives Bear lots of attention especially if I'm away from home for days on end. Amanda is very communicative and always gives me an update as to how Bear does, how much she's eaten, her mood, everything. Bear loves her too, my cat is not a very nice cat to put it diplomatically. She doesn't like many people but she loves Amanda. I am incredibly grateful that Amanda is in our lives!
I can not say enough wonderful things about how amazing Amanda has been with our pup Ollie. He gets so excited whenever we mention her name and runs to the dog looking for her. She is caring and kind. She takes him on long walks, spends time playing with him or, his favorite, snuggling together on the couch. Whether it’s just checking in on him during the day or taking care of him when we travel we could not ask for a more loving caregiver for our fur baby. I highly recommend Amanda
Amanda has cared for my cat Rewster on countless occasions when I have been out of town over the last 14 years. She is always on time, and goes above and beyond to make sure that my cat feels safe and is healthy, well fed, and clean. My cat adores her and she is one of the only people besides myself or my partner that she runs to greet! They’re best buddies and I can tell how affectionately Amanda treats her while I’m away. Amanda is meticulous with instructions for care, and excels in clear communication. I always know exactly how my cat is doing, and how she is feeling, while Amanda is caring for her. Amanda is one of the few people I trust completely with my cat’s medication instructions. I highly recommend her!
Amanda is an extremely caring and loving person. She has been passionate about animals for as long as I've known her, which has been for about 15 years. She has been a vegetarian for about 11 years, and used to volunteer with me at our local animal shelter. She always watches my dog when we go away and I know that my pup is in great hands. She's responsible and professional.
